USA Songwriting Competition 2025
World Category – Finalist & Honorable Mention

初挑戦で、日本語の歌詞による作品が日本人として初めて Honorable Mentionを受賞しました。 (ファイナリストに選ばれた上で受賞)
作詞は山崎玲さん。ファイナルにはグラミー賞受賞者も並ぶ中での成果です。
クラシックを教える日常から生まれた挑戦が、国際舞台で評価されたことを嬉しく思います。

English (Highlights):
First challenge with Japanese lyrics, first Japanese artist to receive Honorable Mention, lyrics by Mr. Yamazaki, among finalists including Grammy Award winners.

英国最大級の作曲コンテスト 🇬🇧 UK Songwriting Contest 初挑戦。「富士山」や「芸者」などの“日本らしさ”に頼らず、作曲と編曲を担当した2つの日本語詞の作品が、 Pop／Top 40部門とアダルト・コンテンポラリー部門で評価されました。 10月上旬に結果が出ました。

Without relying on “Fuji” or “Geisha” — stereotypical Japanese imagery, Two songs I composed and arranged — both written in Japanese — were recognized in the Pop / Top 40 and Adult Contemporary categories. The results were announced in early October 2025. I’m truly proud that these songs were recognized even in the Pop / Top 40 category.

原型は約30年前のアコースティック作品。 Originally an acoustic piece from about 30 years ago. ・10年前に山﨑さんが歌詞をつけ、最近大胆にポップスアレンジしました。
Lyrics were written by Mr. Yamazaki 10 years ago, and it was recently reimagined with a bold pop arrangement.

3歳からピアノを共にしてきた美しい生徒と、久しぶりにリアルで再会しました。この1年、彼女はアメリカに滞在しながらも、オンラインでレッスンを継続。その感性豊かな演奏は、国境を越えて響き続けています。
妹も一緒に、そしてワンちゃんも加わって、笑顔に包まれたひととき。音楽は、時間も距離も超えて人をつなぐ——そんな瞬間を写真に収めました。

“Anastasia” selected as a Semi-Finalist in the U.S. Song of the Year songwriting contest. This marks our first international entry—with Japanese lyrics—recognized both in Japan and abroad.

She began piano at the age of three. After spending a year in the U.S., she returned for her first in-person lesson since going abroad. Throughout her time overseas, she continued her studies online—her expressive playing resonating across borders.
Her younger sister, also a student since age three, joined the reunion. And their little dog, too—adding warmth to the smiles we shared.
Music transcends time and distance. It connects hearts in the most tender ways. We captured that moment in a photograph. #音楽教室 #ピアノ＃

音楽教育・創作・演奏活動を通じて、音楽の本質に触れる場を創り続けています。
🎓 教育活動としては、音楽教室を主宰し、東京アメリカンクラブピアノ講師としても指導を行っています。ペース・メソッド会員として、理論と感性を統合した教育を実践。生徒たちは、自作曲を創り、発表会で自ら演奏することで、音楽を「受け取るもの」から「生み出すもの」へと昇華させています。ピアノ演奏では、カナダの国際ピアノコンクール金賞受賞した生徒もでるなど、国際的な成果も。
🎨 創作活動では、代表作『アナスタシア』をはじめ、ジャンル融合・精神知性・ナラティブな構築を軸に、音楽世界を作っています。『アナスタシア』は12年前の録音作品でありながら、 2025年、国内外の初挑戦で米「Top of the Year」作曲コンテスト・セミファイナリストとなりました。
さらにこの秋、英「UK Songwriting Contest」では、『メルシー』が〈Pop Top 40〉カテゴリー、『アナスタシア』が〈Adult Contemporary〉カテゴリーで、いずれも“Commended Entry（佳作）”を受賞。
日本語歌詞の作品として、言語を超えた精神性と構造美が国際的に評価されています。そして私は、これらの思想を統合する独自の造語ジャンルとして、 🎶 「グローバルクロスオーバーPop」と名づけました。 🎹 演奏活動としては、ピアノ伴奏やソロ演奏も行い、自作曲の演奏・録音・発表を通じて、音楽の言語化と身体性の融合を探求しています。教えることは、創ること。創ることは、響きを育てること。

At Reiko Okita Music Works, we continue to create spaces where people can encounter the essence of music—through education, composition, and performance.
🎓 In education, I lead a private music studio and serve as a piano instructor at the Tokyo American Club. As a member of the Pace Method Association, I practice an integrated approach that blends theory and sensitivity. My students compose their own pieces and perform them at recitals, transforming music from something they receive into something they create. Some have achieved international recognition, including a Gold Prize at the Canada International Piano Competition.
🎨 In composition, I build musical worlds rooted in genre fusion, spiritual intelligence, and narrative structure. My signature work, Anastasia, recorded 12 years ago, was awarded “Top of the Year” in 2025—marking its first domestic and international recognition. Furthermore, in the UK Songwriting Contest, “Merci” was recognized in the Pop Top 40 category and “Anastasia” in the Adult Contemporary category, both receiving Commended Entry Awards.As a Japanese-language vocal piece, it was praised for its transcendent spirituality and architectural beauty beyond linguistic boundaries.
To unify these ideas, I coined a new genre: 🎶 Global Crossover Pop—a poetic fusion of cultures, structures, and spirit.
🎹 In performance, I explore the fusion of musical embodiment and language through solo and collaborative piano work. I perform, record, and present my original compositions as living expressions of sound.
To teach is to create. To create is to nurture resonance.

At my piano studio, I value not only technical mastery but also nurturing the ability to create one’s own music. Our recitals feature students performing their original compositions, alongside solo pieces, duets, and ensemble works. Through music, we cultivate moments where individuality and creativity resonate together.
🎙️ In my personal creative work, I collaborate with Akira Yamazaki—a University of Tokyo graduate, former TBS producer, narrative architect, and poet. From the intersection of music and language, structural beauty and spiritual intelligence, we have developed our own conceptual genre: Global Crossover Pop.
🎖️ One of our Japanese-language songs was awarded in the U.S. “Top of the Year” composition contest. Drawing from the architecture of classical music, we design soundscapes that cross genres, cultures, languages, and spiritual dimensions.
Currently, I am also studying the musicality of J-ROCK and Japanese ballads, continuing to create new works where melody and poetry merge. In addition, I am revisiting and reimagining a body of compositions from nearly 30 years ago up to seven years ago, reintegrating them through the lens of contemporary musical architecture.
