Have you ever met the need to buy fresh groceries ? Do you love cooking but having a hard time to buy ingredients ? Say no more, because here in Sendai, Gyomu Supermarket (業務スーパー) is available near Ichibancho station!
Here, you can find a variety kind of raw ingredients, including vegetables, fruits, meats, and even spices that you might not able to find at other stores. These items also come with a relatively affordable price, so it is an excellent choice for those who enjoy cooking a lot. There are also local ingredients not limited to Japan that may be available as well!

So, try to come to Gyomu and see what it has got there!

After two years of pandemic situation, it finally comes to the dawn of FGL students. In this March, many students who cannot visit Japan due to COVID-19 finally reached Japan. During the Hanami event, we were able to gather together, enjoy the magnificent view, and bask in the sunlight.

2022 is also the 115th anniversary of Tohoku university. The beautiful illuminated night sakura sways in Katahira Campus. People come, stay, and enjoy the still atmosphere created by surrounding trees. Once you visit Sendai in spring, don't miss out the opportunity to discover this beautiful city.

Since the Sakura season is starting now, FGL Community would like to hold an event called 花見(ハナミ) for FGL students!

花見 is a culture in Japan that family or friends will go together for Sakura viewing.

I think it is rare for some of you guys to see snow in winter in your own countries. In winter, there should be the chances for you to see the snowing weather in Sendai. During this period, you can enjoy the beautiful scene in places such as shrine or temple. The shrine shown in the photo is kumano naji shrine located at Natori. Since this shrine is at the top of the mountain, it is possible for you to overlook the whole city. Be sure to check it when you have time!

Hey everyone! Know where this is?😆

Osaki Hachimangu (大崎八幡宮) is a shrine dedicated to the Shinto god of war, Hachiman. It was built by Date Masamune’s orders between 1604 and 1607. The main building consists of the main hall called as honden as well as the offering hall called as haiden, which is joined under a common roof with black lacquer.

Every year during the fourteenth day of January, a festival called Dontosai Festival is held on shrines across the Miyagi prefecture. The largest one is held on Osaki Hachimangu in Sendai. Here, attendees gather their New Year’s decorations from the previous year to be burnt into a bonfire as a prayer for good luck and good health for the upcoming year. This festival also features hadaka-mairi, who are pilgrims who clad in loincloths and torso wraps walk around the site to pay respect to the shrine while also being in cold weather.

Visitors can enjoy street foods that line the sidewalks and the shrine grounds full of both traditional and modern Japanese foods, as well as some international foods as well. They can also buy their own omikuji, which divulges what they would have for the next year as their fortune.

It has been around four hundred years after the establishment of the city of Sendai by the daimyō Date Masamune around 1600. Passing through a handful of prosper and hardship periods, Sendai has been built with the people's will into a magnificent city, foreseeing the victory in the future of the Tohoku region and the country. Rich in cultural heritage and economic prosperity, Sendai excellently performs duties for being the hub of transportation in the Tohoku region as the second-largest city north of Tokyo. Moreover, the city of Sendai, with its nickname City of Trees, is distinctively marked by a combination of urban and nature.

Let us see the scenery of Sendai as viewed from Sendai Castle. Today, the city is still as beautiful as ever.

#仙台光のページェント is an annual festival in Sendai where trees in Jozanji street are illuminated by millions of lights and soon will be decorated with patches of snow. Parades and events attract many tourists and locals though fewer due to the pandemic restrictions.

It is winter. You wonder where to go. You want a place where you can appreciate the beauty of the snowy mountain. Let me recommend to you Yamadera.

It is a very scenic Buddhist temple located in up on the mountain in Yamagata perfecture, one hour tapid train ride from Sendai. Peak of fall season and mid winter is recommended to enjoy the fairy tale like beauty.

For food enthusiast, soba dishes are a must with lots of option from hot or cold soba with lots of toppings (duck, tempura, curry), to even desserts like mochi made out of soba flour (buckwheat flour) with red bean soup.
