This week, we read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle, and made our very own brown bear collage in Carle's style.

The kids traced templates to create the bear's body parts and colored them with gouache and paint sticks. Then they cut and assembled everything with glue. Keeping their hands busy is part of the point. It gives them a natural reason to listen and follow directions in English.

On March 14, we held a short open house before regular sessions begin in April.

Children made yarn chicks inspired by Anna Milbourne's "Springtime," monoprints inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' "The Dot," and paper chameleons inspired by Leo Lionni's "A Color of His Own."
