What a great first day of this year’s OYIS summer intensive program. This week’s topic is all about festivals and today the students learnt about Midsommar, which is a Scandinavian summer festival. Students learnt vocabulary related to the festival, did some worksheets and made a craft. Students also had some excitement not related to the festival which was their pool time. All students received guided lessons based on their swimming level. We can’t wait to see everyone again tomorrow for some more fun activities.

It was another great day at OYIS Saturday school. We had our first observation day at our Nakatsu and Tosabori campuses. Parents were able to see their children having fun in class and also get involved in some classes. It was wonderful to see students and family members working together. We are all looking forward to the second observation next week.

It was another great Saturday at OYIS. Many classes worked hard putting together the final touches to projects they will use for their booth at the OYIS International Festival which will be taking place this Saturday (May 25th). Although these preparation were a big part of the day, the classes still found the time to study hard and enjoy some outside time in the beautiful spring weather. The variety of activities the students get to do every week makes every Saturday fun and challenging. We can't wait to see everyone again next week.

**OYIS Saturday School**
It was another fun filled day at the OYIS Saturday school. The younger students enjoyed singing, dancing and painting cans. Our older students did a variety of activities including paper mache, sports, National Geographic learning and so much more. Many classes made some lovely mother's day cards for that special person who does so much. We hope all of our student's mothers had a special Sunday and we can't wait to see everyone again next week. OYIS is the only place to be for children who enjoy an exciting international environment.

OYIS Saturday School
It was a fantastic second week for the students at OYIS Saturday school. Once the students had settled into their classes, they were treated to a variety of activities. All students were introduced to the National Geographic book they will be using this year, plus they continued with their I.T. lessons, had fun in P.E. and got to do some wonderful crafts. We now have a couple of weeks off, but can’t wait to welcome everyone back after Golden Week.

Day 4 of the Spring Intensives focused on the sub topic of Skin and Bones. Our younger students did an experiment with their skin and the differences between when we have kept our feet (or hands) in the water too long and when our skin gets wrinkly and what our skin usually looks like. They also worked on understanding how broken bones work and what is required to fix them through working with sticks and understanding how hard they are to snap. Our Elementary students learned about how amazing out fingerprints are and how they can be used to identify us due to the unique loops, swirls and arches that we have and looking at them with a magnifying glass. They also looked at all the different types of joints we have in our bodies and made examples of them using dowels and clay. It was an engaging day and we all enjoyed learning about some really interesting parts of our body.

Day 3 was Excursion Day and what a day it was! All 135 students went to the Osaka Museum of Natural History where we saw dinosaur bones, animals and learned about all sorts of interesting new things. While our younger students took the bus, our approximately 100 Elementary students (a number of whom have just entered Grade 1 so are new to Elementary) walked to Midosuji Nakatsu station, caught the train to Nagai, walked to the Museum, had lunch, walked back, caught the train back and then walked back to school!! It was an amazing effort and we know that although they are all tired they had a great time! Well done to all the teachers who supported them too. We are so happy. it was a wonderful day in terms of the weather too. Enjoy our photos!! Only 2 days of Spring Intensive to go!!
