01/04/2018
A Time for NanTan
David Kluge (with help from colleagues)
To everything there is a season,
And a time for every purpose under heaven
A time for beginnings, 1968, the start of a school where young girls become young women
A time for learning—about English, about the world, about ourselves
A time for climbing mountains towards new skills and dreams
An important mission, remembered
Every time they scaled the steep slope to school
A time for bonds
With teachers
With friends
With classmates
With NanTan
NanTan, a home away from home, a family
Lazy afternoons sitting in the courtyard, beneath the trees, laughing with friends
Basking in the warmth
Home of the NanTan Family
A time for change
The birth of NinKan
Of new colleagues
Shoulder to shoulder, laughing, chatting, calling to friends
As we pass in the halls before class, as we pass through NanTan time
Sadness at saying so-long to NinKan, as they move to another hill
Good memories, we’ll miss you
Good-luck, come and visit
Good-bye, see you again soon
A time of doubts
—about abilities
—about the future
A time for change, 2011, moving to another hill, joining NinKan
Hello, good to see you again
Moving into our building, R Building
A time for performances, travel bazaar, In My Life, speech contests
Performances in R49 and Flatten Hall
English Performance Festivals—performing, bonding
Making friends, making memories
Then saying good-bye
Good memories, we’ll miss you
Good-luck, come and visit
Good-bye, see you again soon
A time for laughter
A time for tears
Of fond memories throughout the years
A time for endings, 2018, March 31, seems like the end of NanTan
But not yet, not yet
Some students remain
Many memories remain
Good memories, we’ll miss you
Good-luck, we’ll come and visit, if only in our mind
Good-bye, see you again soon
To everything there is a season
And a time for every purpose under heaven
