東明館中学校・高等学校（とうめいかんちゅうがっこう・こうとうがっこう）は、佐賀県三養基郡基山町にある私立中高一貫校。設立母体は学校法人東明館学園。
学校名の由来
東明館は、寛政4年に当時の対馬藩主宗義功が設立した藩校が始まり。 東明館と名づけられたのは、寛政12年のこと。 安政2年に田代下町に移転。

遠方から来ている生徒のために寮が設置されている。
また塾に行きにくいとの声を反映して、外部から講師をまねく『東明学館』の制度もある。個人指導と集団指導の2種類。
朝夕の食事は両寮の食堂兼用になっている。

二人部屋と多少一人部屋（紫苑寮と同設備）がある。寮内にシャワールーム付き。

全室フローリング、ユニットバス付きの一人部屋。
特 色
医療系への進学に特化している。
校則がないと言われているが、実際は生徒手帳に「生徒会規約」という名目で少々の記載がある。ここに記載が無いものでも細かく存在する。最近はスカート丈や眉、腰パンなどの風紀の指導に力を入れている。以前は靴下や補助バッグなどが学校指定品であったが、最近は生徒会の努力で緩和された。 その他では、髪型の規制が他校とくらべかなり緩和されているぐらいである。
開校当初から暫くは、西日本地区で一番学費が高かった。（学費が下がったわけではない）
2009年（平成21年）度から中学校の新入生に対し特進クラスが設置。

I am certain that the best way to develop strong character is to appreciate the help and support of those around you. There are four kinds of appreciation that we should have. I call them "SHI-ON". Tomeikan with the motto of “AIM AT THE TOP”, based on the philosophies of “integrated secondary education system”, “elite education”, “co-education”, and “respect for students’ personalities”, has been making steady progress as an academic-oriented school. Our school name “Tomeikan” is derived from a hankou or a fief school, which was established by Tsushima Fief about 200 years ago. The school owed its educational backbone to Hirose Tanso, a Confucian scholar of the Edo period. He came to teach at Tomeikan as well as presiding over his private school called “Kangien” in Bungo-Hita (present Hita City in Oita prefecture). He was far ahead of the time in that he thought highly of respect for students’ personalities, initiative, and co-education. Our present school precepts, “Kogaku-aichi” or love of learning and wisdom, and “jiritsu-jikei” or self-discipline and self-fulfillment summarize his ideas. In other words, they mean that each student should try to achieve their goals on their own and tackle problems courageously. Our campus is full of young energy. The students are taking part in extracurricular activities made up of eight sports clubs and twelve cultural ones. Speech and broadcasting clubs, among others, are regular finals in the nationwide contests. Baseball, soccer, volleyball, and basketball clubs are also enthusiastic. It is not only their body that our students train. We offer our students several programs in order to help them grow up to be well-balanced individuals. The programs include school trip to Singapore and Europe, homestay program in Australia, lectures and special lessons by leading scholars and intellectuals. We also encourage our students to read a lot and to write essays so that they can develop clear and critical thinking abilities. Taking advantage of “integrated secondary education system”, this encouragement bears fruit as “graduation thesis” written by third-year students of junior high school. We have remarkably succeeded in sending our graduates to universities and colleges. In spite of the relatively small number of students of 190 per year, this year 96 students passed entrance examinations for national and public universities and 293 for private universities. Especially, the number of students who passed for schools of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacology reached as many as 117, including 62 for medicine. Our students are leading a busy life actively involved in a variety of activities on campus. Please feel free to visit our school standing on a hill. First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Hormozd Mehrrostami. I am 51 years old. 25 years ago, I came to Japan from Vancouver in Canada and since then I have been teaching English. During these years. I have learned many things about Japan. Especially about Japanese people and Japanese culture. I joined Tomeikan Junior and Senior High School 13 years ago as an English teacher. To the 1st graders in junior high school. I teach one hour of English conversation and one hour of Z-kai English course. To the 2nd and 3rd graders in junior high school. I teach English conversation. To the 1st graders in high school. I teach OC-B and to the 3rd graders in high school. I teach English composition for the university entrance examinations. Now let me tell you about our school Tomeikan. At present our school is one of the leading schools in Kyushu and I am sure in the next five years our school will be one of the top schools all over Japan. Tomeikan was the name of a famous school in the 19th century which was led by a very well-known teacher, Mr. His spiritual and moral teaching are one of the important bases for our school. What we teach our students is not just the content of the text books, but the principle how to behave themselves for the future. We teach them how to be a person who cares, a person who challenges new things, a person who makes chances, a person who can reach dreams and a person who will lead Japan in the 21st century. "We have succeeded to educational policies of Tanso Hirose." School name Tomeikan has a long histor. It is founded two hundred years ago, when the teachings of Chu-tzu (Shushi-gaku) were accredited by the government. In 1792, Yoshikatsu So, the lord of Tsushima-Clan, following the educational policies of the government at that time, founded a cram school, our school's ancestor, at Tashiro Dominion. Tashiron Dominion, the northeastern part of Tosu and Kiyama-cho, was governed by Tsushima Clan. That area, bounded on Chikuzen (Fukuoka), Chikugo (Kurume) and Hizen (Saga), was suitable for education. It was in 1800 that the cram school was named Tomeikan and its buildings were school house was buit. In 1855, Tomeikan was moved to Tashiro-sh*ta-machi and opened as an institution of both literary and military arts. The officer addressed the opening ceremony: "Learning is life-long work. The aim of education is to bring up practical persons who are needed to the day and of to the nation."---which is one of our educational policies. Tanso Horose, a Confucian scholar living in Bungo-Hita (Oita Prefecture), presided over his cram school, Kangi-en, and started teaching at Tomeikan in 1829. He set the new tone of the school and improved it both in name and in reality. He carried out his principle about education, developed his students' own individuality, and cultivated their aesthetic sentiments by teaching Chinese poetry. The students at Tomeikan were willing to study, think for themselves, and ask their teachers their own questions. They were also expected to pass difficult examinations to be promoted. Some of them lived in the dormitory which was available for those who came from far away. All of his educational policies have been handed down to our school, Tomeikan Junior and Senior High School. Our school was built at the foot of Kizan hill, which stands on the border between Fukuoka ＆ Saga Prefecture, and named Tomeikan after the old school of the Tsushima Clan. The old school followed the motto of Kangien, where Tanso Hirose (a well known scholar) educated every student equally to develop their personality. Our school also follows this motto and aims to encourage the young talents to be useful for the development of society. Tanso Hirise's educational idea of Kangien and Tomeikan, was that learning was our lifelong work and that children must be educated our to be practical and useful for society and to be able to adapt themselves to the times. It is our school motto to learn willingly and have autonomy. Appreciation for the four obligations (1: Obligation to our parents. 2: Obligation to our teachers. 3: Obligation to our country and society. Obligation to the Supreme Being) is the bare bones of humanity. Our school's policy is based on learning willingly and we will make the consecutive education of junior and senior high school. We have 39 lessons a week. English and Math lessons in our school are about twice those of puplic schools. We practice basic test and extra lessons during the summer, winter and spring vacation. We think it important that students will acqure good personality and we will give them high quality lessons in order to prepare them for high level universities. "All of the students study regularly and develop their achievement." To realize this aim the dormitories are available to both boy and girl students who come from far away cities and towns. In the dormmitory, the supervisor will look after them. Through the group activities, they have friendship and they can learn how to be responsible and independent. In the dormitory they can develop their social abilities. The students in the dormitory study by themselves to pass the entrance examination to universities and teachers incharge of the dormitory visit there and supervise the students as well.
