Japanese Junction initially started as an annual exhibition in Tokyo since 2010 and it has been introducing diversifying architectural discourse in the world by exhibiting studio projects done by Japanese students who are studying architecture outside Japan. This was motivated by the situation in Japan where the number of students who study abroad is declining, and the language barrier limits people to have access to the studio projects produced at institutions in different countries. Since 2010, we have introduced 90 projects from 12 different countries such as USA, UK, Switzerland among others in past five exhibitions. Project review and a symposium are held during the exhibition, where participants have opportunity to expose their ideas to Japanese audience and have discussions with prominent invited guest critics.
