Writing is cathartic for both the reader and writer. Every story about the loss of a mother is different. It's personal. It's unique.

But I couldn't have smoothed out the writing without the help of an excellent editor. I never used to ask for help, believing I should be strong enough, to know enough to do the task. I'm glad I did ask. It felt good.

Hug You, Hug You Not— Part One October 7th 2004 was the day my life took a path that no one can ever truly prepare for. It was the day Mum was relieved of hers.

I love this project. Thought provoking short stories from writers around the globe.

I write stories for all of the above. This HBR article reminded me of one story I wrote based on My Perfect Day in 2026. 10 years into my future!! 😱🎉

At the time, none of it was true. Well maybe the fact I could ride a bike and I drank wine was true 😉 And now, 4yrs on, 60% of it is true.

This is the POWER of STORIES.

CASTING STORYTELLERS

I produce and direct a comedy storytelling interrogation show called Perfect Liars Club (4 people tell an unbelievable story, but only 3 are true). In essence, it’s a gameshow with audience interaction. And enormous fun.

I screen via Zoom webinar from Tokyo and the next show is 8pm Saturday 26th September (11pm NZT), up to 2hrs long.
I’d like to expand the show talent and invite overseas ‘suspects’.

Your Commitment:
- submit your story proposal and once approved, develop it on your own
- send me info for your poster
- 30-40min online coaching session with me to make your story even more fabulous and fitting for the gameshow element.
- full cast cue to cue tech rehearsal the night before (can be changed)
- show night: check in at 7pm and then return for the 8pm show.
- be happy to enjoy the whole process and have fun on the show..... and ultimately impress your mum/gran/dog
