Is living in Kyoto affordable? 💴🇯🇵
Four students from different countries shared their real thoughts on living costs in Kyoto 🌏

They mainly talked about rent, and their comments show that life in Kyoto is not as expensive as you might think. Many students seem to live here quite comfortably without too much concern about daily expenses 😇

- The rent in Kyoto is nothing compared to my country.
- It cost me like a third of the rent in my country.
- I pay more expensive rent because I want a very huge room.

The student from Switzerland lives in a shared house, which helps reduce living costs 🏠

Hello 我是Wendy，來自香港。因為喜歡日本的文化藝術，去年離開了香港的舒適圈，來到日本留學。

京都文化日本語學校（KICL）是少數在大學裡面的語言學校。當初選擇在這裡讀書，部分原因就是可以在大學校園生活，放學後與同學在飯堂或咖啡廳吃飯，亦可以到圖書館温書和看書。

KICL除了培養學生聽說讀寫的能力外，另一特色就是在課程中，加入了不少調查和發表的機會。我其中一項研究，是關於京都的麵包飲食文化。起初要訪問了本地人也很怕，但踏出了第一步之後，又沒有想像中困難。我想這也是學習語言的必經階段。最後還走訪了京都的麵包店，發掘了不少好吃的麵包。

在京都生活，會接觸到不同的日本傳統文化，而學校亦重視學生的文化體驗，每個學期都會舉辦文化日，讓學生參與不同的傳統工藝工作坊。

此外亦會舉辦展覽會，除了展出不同級別的課堂習作外，亦有學生的藝術作品展覽。可以與不同國家的同學進行藝術交流，這個機會很難得，也算是完成了開小型畫展的心願吧。

Did you know that some Japanese people study Japanese at Japanese language schools in Japan?
Yes - they were born or raised overseas.
We usually have some Japanese students enrolled at our language school.

This is an interview video featuring two half-Japanese students who were previously enrolled at our school in Kyoto, Japan.

Julia and Elena talk about their real experience living abroad in Japan, and their experience interacting with locals as teenagers of partial Japanese descent.

They openly talk about why they chose to study in Japan as Japanese individuals, as well as the challenges and pressures they face when learning Japanese because of their background.
