Meet Alan, the founder of Kyoto Lesson! 👋

Like many parents, Alan is passionate about raising globally-minded kids. With four multilingual children and experience living in several different countries, he understands the challenges and benefits of preparing kids for the future.

Alan's parenting journey, along with his background in engineering and business, inspired him to create Kyoto Lesson. He believes in nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence in children, allowing them to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Students at Kyoto Lesson have access to 2 different English classes: English Fluency and Academic English.

English Fluency focuses on conversational skills, giving students skills needed to participate in real-life conversations and group discussions. It also develops students’ abilities to express themselves and build the confidence needed for public speaking.

Academic English focuses on reading and writing skills needed to succeed in school, exams, and higher education. Students of this class will develop strong vocabularies, essay-writing skills, and critical thinking skills.

2024年の冬期講習が無事に終わりました！生徒たちが英語にどっぷり浸かれる楽しい1週間でした。今回のテーマはハリー・ポッターシリーズに登場する「魔法の世界」でした。参加された生徒たちが一生懸命会話の練習をし、物語を語り、プレゼンテーションを行い、創造的なプロジェクトに取り組みました。

Our 2024 Winter Camp was an exciting week-long opportunity for students to fully immerse themselves in English! The theme was the “Wizarding World,” inspired by the Harry Potter series. Students practiced conversational skills, told stories, gave presentations, and worked on creative projects.

Our next camp will be held in Spring 2025 from March 24 to March 28.

We started Kyoto Lesson six years ago with a simple idea: teach kids coding alongside the art of communication—through debate, storytelling, and more—because we believe that to succeed, an engineer also needs to know how to communicate, pitch, and connect with others.
