Born in Tokyo, in 1964. At the age of 10, he got a big shock by Monterey Pop Festival on TV and began playing the guitar, especially being crazy about Jimi Hendrix. Later on, while he was in college, he started his career as a guitarist supporting some studio works and live concerts. After graduation, his work has expanded to composing and arranging music for TV commercials, movies, and etc. The guitar performance for TV commercials such as “Burn” (UCC coffee) and “Smoke on the water” (Richo Imagio), excellent pieces of Deep Purple, is one of the works by Eiji. He has been providing his music to more than 200 ads by now. In 1993, Eiji first met Daisuke Tokitou, the bassist of the band with Mai Yamane he was also participating as composer, and got great vibes from him. While doing his own work in music, he began spending most of the time playing Jam sessions with fellow musicians. The communication with various musicians and DJs since then has given big influences to his music. Traveling alone to Brasil in 2001 and to Australia in 2003, he has been well received in his live performances at local parties, and in 2005, Rip 'n' Eiji, the unit with Australian veteran artist Rip Van Hippy, released its album “Teng Moon”. Eiji is also a member of Free Electro, the band with a world wide Trumpeter Toshinori Kondo. He participated in the album produced by Toshinori Kondo, “The 吉原 (Yoshiwara)” by 栄芝 (Eishiba), which won PROJECT AWARD of THE JAPAN RECORD AWARD in 2003. In clubs and party scenes, he plays not only in the solo live but in the live of the psychedelic trance unit Jikooha with bursting psychedelic guitar. In 2007 fall, his first solo album as Eiji Shibata, “Double Goose Fish”, was released from PANORAMA RECORDS.
