It’s 👹 Happy Birthday to Mary Shelley, born in 1797.

It’s been over 200 years since ‘Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus’ was published, when Shelley was just twenty years old. This picture, from R. Glynn Grylls’ biography depicts her at age nineteen.

Mary Shelley died in 1851, ten years after the Library first opened. But her son, Percy Florence Shelley became a member in 1878 and remained so for some years.
