🎓 JOY Program Completion Ceremony | August 5 🎓
On August 5, we held the completion ceremony for the Spring 2026 JOY Program!
This semester, 49 students from 30 partner universities across 16 countries and regions successfully completed their studies at YNU 🎊

Congratulations to all of our graduates 🌻
How was your study abroad experience at YNU? We hope you will continue to cherish the connections you made with fellow students, faculty members, and staff through classes and events.

🇰🇷 Introduction to Korea "韓国事情" | July 23 🇯🇵
On July 23, students in the general education course Introduction to Korea, taught by Associate Professor Kim Ranmi, presented their final poster projects.

Working in groups, Japanese students and Korean international students explored cultural and linguistic differences between Japan and Korea through topics such as slang, social customs, and dating culture.
The event welcomed not only students, but also university staff and local community volunteers, creating opportunities for lively discussion and intercultural exchange. 🌏

This course offers a unique opportunity for Japanese and Korean students to learn together and experience cross-cultural exchange right here on campus.

7/23、金蘭美先生による全学教育科目「韓国事情」のポスター発表が行われました。

日本人学生と韓国人留学生がグループを組み、流行語や社交辞令、恋愛スタイルなどの身近なテーマを通して、日韓の言語や文化の違いについて調査・発表しました。
教室には学生だけでなく、地域ボランティアの方々や教職員も参加し、活発な対話が行われました🌏

日本人学生と韓国人留学生がともに学び、キャンパス内で異文化交流を体験できる貴重な機会です。

🏮 Sejong & Japanese Language and Culture Programs Field Trip | July 11 🏮
On July 11, students from the Sejong Program (Korea) and the Japanese Language and Culture Program (Taiwan), together with Japanese buddy students and faculty members, joined a one-day field trip to Sawara and the National Museum of Japanese History 🌏
 
From sharing meals and laughter to learning together, the day brought students from Korea, Taiwan, and Japan closer through cultural exchange, friendship, and unforgettable experiences✨

🪭 English Rakugo | July 6 🪭
On July 6, we had the pleasure of hosting an English Rakugo performance in the Information Lounge of the Central Library.

We were honored to welcome Kanariya Eiraku, who treated us to a wonderful Rakugo performance and introduced participants to the unique charm of this traditional Japanese storytelling art.

Following the performance, participants joined a hands-on workshop and practiced reading a short Rakugo script aloud together. Three students even took the stage and performed in front of the audience! Although Rakugo requires a single storyteller to bring multiple characters to life using only voice, expression, and gesture, all of the performers did an amazing job 👏

Our sincere thanks to Kanariya Eiraku, Representative Director of the English Rakugo Association, for giving us this valuable opportunity to experience the art of Rakugo. We would also like to thank all of the participants for their enthusiasm and wonderful performances, which made the workshop such a memorable experience 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️

🎋 Tanabata | July 7 🎋
Today is Tanabata, Japan’s Star Festival 🌟

On July 3, YNU hosted a Tanabata Festival, bringing together international students, Japanese students, and university staff. Participants enjoyed making origami and writing their wishes on colorful tanzaku strips.

The children from Mori no Luna Nursery School also joined us, bringing many lovely handmade decorations. To close the event, they delighted everyone with a beautiful Tanabata song 🎶

It was a wonderful opportunity to experience Japanese culture and deepen connections across cultures and generations.
A special thank you to the Japanese student volunteers who taught origami and to everyone who participated 💙

Now that the rain has cleared, perhaps Orihime and Hikoboshi can finally meet across the stars tonight 🌌
May all your wishes come true 💫

🙋‍♂️ Trial Lesson in English ② | June 20 🙋‍♀️
Today, we’re sharing a glimpse of Trial Lesson ② led by Assistant Professor Yoko Yamash*ta:
“Who is ‘Japanese’? Thinking Critically About Culture and Identity.”

Through group discussions, participants explored the open-ended question of what makes someone “Japanese.” While we often rely on stereotypes in everyday life, the lesson encouraged everyone to reflect more deeply on culture, identity, and belonging.

Afterward, current students shared their own experiences and perspectives on identity and language, giving participants an opportunity to learn about the diverse backgrounds and unique stories within our student community.

We hope this lesson provided new insights and inspired meaningful conversations! ✨

🌋 Trial Lesson ① | June 20 🌋
On June 20 (Sat), we hosted an English trial lesson during our Open Campus✨
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us!

Today, we’re sharing a glimpse of Trial Lesson ① led by Assistant Professor Takinana:
“Why Do Disasters Become Disasters? Exploring Vulnerability, Risk and Resilience.”

Through interactive group work and hands-on activities, participants explored everyday hazards and deepened their perspectives together. The room was filled with energy, curiosity, and active discussion👏
