December was all about Xmas and the holiday season. The children learned some new vocabulary and practised using the words they already know.
They had each other choose an ornament from a basket (‘Which one do you want ?’, ‘I want this one please.’) and then put them on selected flash cards. They also trimmed a small Xmas tree (‘Where do you want to put it?’, ‘Here.’) and used another tree (a hanging type made of felt), on which they hung ornaments shaped like several things on our flash cards.
We also played a memory game during which we selected 5 words that the students had to memorise, and then removed one of them(‘What (which card) is missing?’, ‘The ... is missing. ‘)
In December, our arts and crafts project was making a gnome ornament. Among the materials we used were yarn, scissors, a stapler, staples, stickers, round cups of different sizes, a glue gun and some coloured paper. Apart from naming the things needed, the children were instructed on the actions they had to perform ( cut, wind, tie, trace, put, staple, fix, stick, decorate etc.).
