The Hiroshima Peace Nexus 2026: The Humanitarian and Emergency Response Network
On 30–31 July 2026, the WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency Medical Teams Information Management at Hiroshima University held its first international event, The Hiroshima Peace Nexus: Inaugural Networking Meeting, in Hiroshima, Japan.
The two-day event brought together participants and organizations from 16 countries & the United Nations, connecting Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs), government organizations, NGOs, academic and research institutions, and international organizations.
With a shared vision of building stronger connections before emergencies occur, participants discussed partnership experiences, challenges in collaboration, resource mobilization, disaster preparedness, Health Emergency and Disaster Risk Management, and opportunities to move from knowledge sharing to knowledge co-creation.
For our WHO Collaborating Centre, this inaugural event marked an important beginning. We look forward to continuing this journey with our partners and strengthening collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
From Hiroshima, connecting people, knowledge, and partnerships for a safer and more resilient world.
