Sundanka and the kids 🌸
Looking at the Sundanka flowers by the entrance, a 4th grade boy said:
“Sensei, this flower is really tasty.”
“Tasty?”
“Yeah, the bottom part of the flower!”
Ah, so he meant sipping the nectar.
It reminded me of when I was little—I used to drink the nectar from hibiscus flowers. Back then, I didn’t really think of flowers as “beautiful,” just as “delicious flowers” 😆
Even in the hot Okinawan summer, Sundanka blooms all over the garden.
For kids, they’re not just pretty—they’re sweet, tasty flowers! 🌺✨
サンダンカと子どもたち
玄関に飾ってあるサンダンカを見て、小学4年生の男の子が言いました。
「先生、この花おいしいよね」
「ん？おいしい？」
「うん。花の下の方！」
――なるほど、蜜を吸っているってことね。
私も小さいころ、ハイビスカス🌺の蜜をよく吸っていました。お花を「きれい」だとはあまり感じず、「美味しい花！」と思っていたものです😆
サンダンカ。
沖縄の暑い夏でも、庭いっぱいに元気に咲き誇っています。
子どもたちにとっては、甘い蜜を楽しめる“美味しい花”なんだそうです。
