Tsukimi – Moon Viewing Festival 🌕🎑
Have you ever heard of Tsukimi? In Japan, mid-September is the season for this beautiful tradition of moon viewing. Families gather to admire the full moon, decorate with pampas grass 🌾, and eat tsukimi dango (round rice dumplings) as an offering to the moon. The round shape of the dango symbolizes the full moon’s beauty and a wish for health and happiness.
✨ Useful Japanese Phrase:
・「月がきれいですね。」 (Tsuki ga kirei desu ne.) – “The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?”
👉 Fun fact: In Japanese culture, this phrase has also been used as a romantic way to say “I love you” without saying it directly. 💕
❓If you could enjoy Tsukimi, would you try a picnic under the full moon?
