A photographic census of the city of Beirut, one photo at a time. Contact/Photo Submissions: [email protected]

Humans of Beirut is inspired by the page, Humans of New York. It is an attempt at celebrating the citizens of this very beautiful city, and is foremost an experiment in empathy. It will hopefully feature the smiling faces of supermarket owners, artisans, students, and the teta's and jiddo's that we all know and love. :)

If you want to share your photos of humans from Beirut to the world,

Meet Mubarak. Our almost outrageous tour-guide at an old castle in Azraq, Jordan. The castle, he claims, is his, and to prove it, here he is pointing to an inscription on a rock that he argues has his name on it.

I'd walked into an intense debate on what truly was the best football club in the whole wide world. Fortunately, their fighting had stopped when they joined forces to make fun of my hat.

A short film was produced by Karim Badra, Mohamed Sabbah and Nour Tayeh in honor of the late Ali Abdallah. It tells the story of Souad, a homeless woman abandoned on the streets waiting for her loved ones who don't come back. This story, while fictional, represents the countless of homeless people in our country in need of help.
The film is accompanied by a project called 'Find Ali, Invisible No More' that allows us to pinpoint the location of homeless men and women and allows activists to find them.

The Story of Souad, in Honor of Ali حكاية سعاد... من أجل علي عبدالله 16/02/2013

My dear Beirutis,
Today marks 40 days since the passing of Ali Abdallah, a man who was found dead in Hamra on a cold January morning. On this day, I ask that we do not forget his death, and do not forget all those like him that roam the street of Beirut, Tripoli, and Saida. If you wish that Ali's story is never repeated, and if you wish that every man, woman, or child in need is rendered visible, please watch this video.
