The Final DeCAIR Steering Committee Meeting

As the DeCAIR (Developing Curricula for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics) project approaches its conclusion on January 14, 2024, we proudly hosted the 22nd and final Steering Committee Meeting. This significant gathering marked the culmination of our three-year journey, supported by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program.

On Wednesday 13/12/2023, the 21st DeCAIR Steering Committee Meeting was held in the School of of Engineering at the University of Jordan and through Zoom platform. After the welcome notes, the following topics were discussed during this meeting:
* Briefing about the Final Dissemination Conference
* Measuring Project Impact Report
* Discussing actions needed to close the project
* Planning for the final project report
* Planning for the final project meeting

On Tue 12/12/2023, the DeCAIR project organized the Developing Curricula for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Conference. This conference is the final conference for the project for informing the participants and sharing with them the results of the project and for disseminating its experiences and recommendations.

The conference was held in the Small Auditorium of the School of Engineering in the University of Jordan with more than 110 participants, including specialists from Jordanian higher education, academicians from public and private Jordanian and Lebanese universities, representatives of ministries, unions and industry, members of the project team, and a group of those interested in artificial intelligence and robotics.

The conference had an opening session and a second, technical session. The opening session had the following speeches with Dr. Mohammad Abd-Almajeed as master of ceremonies.

After this session, the President of the University of Jordan led the inauguration of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab. This lab was created through DeCAIR and has 16 student workstations, 2 supervisor laptops, 2 servers for large machine learning jobs, and 9 robots.

The second session presented the partners’ experiences, student experiences, projects results, and recommendations. This session had the following 10 talks and was chaired by Dr. Adham Al-Sharqawi.

On Tuesday 21/11/2023, the DeCAIR project participated in the 14th International Conference on Information and Communication Systems (ICICS 2023), which is an international conference organized annually by Jordan University of Science and Technology and technically cosponsored by IEEE. Prof. Gheith Abandah represented DeCAIR project and gave a keynote speech titled "Unlocking the Power of Large Language Models: Exploring Architectures, Evolving Trends, and Revolutionary Applications." The speech included the following topics:

Disruptive effects of LLMs

Prof. Abandah gave also a brief about the DeCAIR project and invited conference participants to register in DeCAIR's Final Dissemination Conference.

Monday 6/11/2023: The DeCAIR project and Jordan Joint Chapter of the IEEE Computer Society and Computational Intelligence Society organized a talk on Artificial Intelligence for Arabic. This talk was given by Eng. Mohammad Khair, the CEO of the International Computing Institute for Quran and Islamic Sciences. This talk covered the following two topics:
1. AI Applications for Arabic Language Stylometry in Quran, Hadith, and Poetry
2. Specialization of Large Language Models in Islamic Sciences
