St Jago High School Students' Council

St Jago High School Students' Council The St Jago High School Students' Council is the students' advocacy body within the institution. Follow us on instagram!

We give a voice to the cohort and the opportunity to express themselves on issues affecting them within the school without them being ridiculed. Our aim is to advocate for improvement where necessary to make the student experience at St Jago a good one! We are governed by the National Secondary Students' Council (NSSC) which was established through the education act of 1980 in the realization that

students needed a voice and needed to be represented in matters concerning themselves. The council's motto is "Responsible Students, make the difference", and with this in mind, we thrive to make a difference where possible, to better the lives of our students!

Election Tip 101:

It is highly recommended that a Head Student should not be the Students’ Council President.

This is one of the challenges that may arise:

As a representative on the school board, a Council President may need to advocate for students on disciplinary matters, but at the same time would need to represent the school administration as a Head Prefect. It is important that both roles (Head Prefect & Students’ Council President) be separated.
