Merlene Ottey High School

Merlene Ottey High School is located in the quiet rural community of Pondside District nestled in the cool, lush, green hills of Hanover.
It was formerly named Cascade Secondary Vocational School; however, this was later changed to Merlene Ottey High (in honour of the great Jamaican female sprinter) in October of 1993.
The schools initial mandate was to provide vocational skills training for students who were unsuccessful in the Grade Nine Achievement Test (GNAT). The school was upgraded to a
Comprehensive High School in 1998 and received its first batch of students from the Grade
Six Achievement Test (GSAT). Although the school offers a diverse range of programmes its greatest success has been in the skills and vocational area
