Reopening – School Year 2021 – 2022
Greeting one and all. My students, parents, guardians and all stakeholders, I hope your weekend is going well so far. I greet you with lots of love and best wishes.
As we begin school year 2021-2022, on behalf of the Board of Management and staff I wish for you a safe, productive and rewarding year.
You all must be aware by now that the school year will begin with Online teaching/learning due to what is happening with the COVID Pandemic at this time. We were all looking forward to F2F engagement but that has eluded us for the time being. We know that Wi-Fi, Data, device and connectivity issues are ever present but we need to see how best we can have these in place for the children’s education to move forward and upward.
So your child should have been placed in a group by now and is able to greet the teacher. Online teaching will be done in the Google classroom where the children can interact with the teacher. Even if and when the WhatsApp groups are used for teaching, the children are expected to be online and respond to the teachers just as if they are in the F2F class setting. We can only try our best to get this going my parents and guardians. We do not wish our children to be left behind in their academic work. It is of vital importance that they keep abreast of the work as much as they possibly can. Please do your part and keep listening to the media to hear any announcement being made by the government and by extension the MOE.
You have been making queries about booklist. It was decided to wait a while to see what is happening, as last school year books were not utilized as expected. Many children were not able to navigate the assigned work on their own and most parent were out most times trying to earn a living and not able to assist them with the work. However, you will be asked to purchase a class reader. If you see where your child need additional work and you need books, the class teacher can make recommendations for such resources. The MOE books that were loaned to you which you ALL returned, will be given out by the end of the month.
We were planning a PTA meeting but this fell through due to the increase in COVID cases. This meeting has to be held but it will have to be on one of the online platforms so be prepared to attend please. We will advise you when this is scheduled.
You can address your queries to the principal, the VP, or Ms. Walker, we are in all the class groups. You can also link the class teachers.
I implore you all, my students, parents and guardian to please; continue to keep yourselves safe, practice good hygiene and physical distancing. Follow guidelines given and take ALL necessary precautions.
Those of you who are not against the vaccine please go and take the jab. It might just make us a little safer.
I am really looking forward to being with you again.
I love and miss you all. Jehovah’s blessings on us all.
Best Regards
Claudette Gilzine
Principal
