***UPDATE*** It now appears that the momo challenge we posted about last night is, in fact, a hoax. We were trying to get an important and timely message out based on the best information we had at the time. Clearly this proved not to be right on this occasion. ***UPDATE***

There is a "game" doing the rounds on social media platforms at the minute called "momo" which appears to target children or vulnerable people.

The momo challenge is a form of cyberbullying where momo asks to be contacted through a social media site and then asks the person to perform a series of dangerous tasks including self-harm.

There is a disturbing image of momo online that parents should make themselves familiar with.

Please always supervise your children or those that are vulnerable while online. As parents, its all too easy sometimes to hand over a device to a child for that few minutes peace but there can be devastating consequences if they are left unsupervised.

Congratulations to all of these award winners who were recognised today for safeguarding vulnerable children and adults in Jersey.

Chief Minister John Le Fondré presented each award winner with a certificate and was joined at the ceremony by Children's Minister Senator Sam Mézec to hear about the invaluable contribution, commitment and effort made by many States of Jersey employees who help to keep vulnerable children and young people and adults safe.
