Bridgeton High School c/o 2004

Class of 2004 it is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our very own Ta’kyra Byers. We extend our deepest condolences to her family including her lovely daughters.

Below is her obituary:

Mrs. Ta’kyra Nicole Byers 39, of 4724 Klondike Circle, Lithonia, GA, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church in Louisville GA. Reverend Eric Best, Sr. will be the eulogist. Inhumation will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Ta’kyra was born February 13, 1986 in Bridgeton, New Jersey, the daughter of Edith Byers and Robert Gibbons. She received her education at Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, New Jersey. When she was younger, she became a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church. Additionally, Ta’kyra was the Administrator at Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Washington, Georgia. She also most recently attending the University of Phoenix.

Ta’kyra was an avid reader, at her spare time she would snuggle up comfortably in her bed with a good book or books. She was a loving and caring individual with a sweet spirit. She embodied a rare blend of humility and strength, a quiet force that left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Ta’kyra was united into marriage to Jeffery Jones on April 23, 2018.

Ta’kyra leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories to her husband, Jeffery Jones; daughters: Ny’kayla Byers, Jy’asia Jones and Ja’liyah Jones, Bridgeton, NJ; step-daughters: N’shiyah Jones, Diamond Jones and Tahj Jones, Bridgeton, NJ; step-son: Sincere Jones, Bridgeton, NJ; father, Robert Gibbons, Bridgeton, NJ; mother, Edith Byers-Chestnut (John), Bridgeton, NJ; sisters: Latosha Gibbons, and Cierra Gibbons, Louisville, GA, and Jacoya Simpson, Bridgeton, NJ; brothers: Kyheem Simpson (Arneasha) and Kayvon Simpson, Bridgeton, NJ; god daughter, Nai’elle Gibbons, Charlotte, NC; god mother, Tamekia McNair, Bridgeton, NJ; aunts: Dana Byers and Ronny Byers, Bridgeton, NJ, Mary Hatcher, Savannah, GA, Tammy Dawson, Ruthie Walker, Keturah Reed and Tequesta Dukes, Florida and Twanda Griffith, Atlanta, GA; uncles: Tom Kelly, Willie Gibbons, Robert Gibbons, Alfred Byers and Tyrone Loatman, Bridgeton, NJ, Otis Gibbons, Tampa, FL and Marvin Dukes, Belle Glade, FL; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ta’kyra was predeceased by her sister, Shanekila Fields, a brother, George Simpson, III, maternal grandparents, Joan Byers and Carl Green, Jr., paternal grandparents, Edgar and Mattie Kelly Gibbons.
