Teacher - ME - needs a kidney

I am a teacher who loves to help students learn and grow. During the week, I work as a reading specialist at a public school. On the weekend, I teach Sunday School at my congregation. Teaching is my greatest passion.

Unfortunately, for the last 6 years, I have been fighting an immune system disorder known as lupus nephritis. For most of these years, I have been able to push through the typical symptoms of lupus so that I can still teach and give my students the energy and support that they deserve. But as time has gone on, my nephritis has gotten worse and caused my kidneys to lose function.

I now have to undergo kidney dialysis three times a week. On those days I go to school, go to dialysis, make lunch for the next day, then go to bed. That's all. This treatment is very time consuming and takes away both time and energy that I would like to be able to give to my work and my students. I would not have to undergo this treatment anymore if I could find a kidney donor.

I have been looking for a donor for the past year. Unfortunately, none of my family members are eligible to donate, and my friends who have offered to donate were not compatible donors, either.
If you are willing to see if you might be a compatible donor, please contact the **VCU Hume Transplant Center** in Richmond, VA. The test is fairly simple, the procedure can be done ANONYMOUSLY (I would never know you were my donor. I understand privacy concerns. This is why I haven't given my name) and you could literally save my life. Even if your kidney turns out NOT to be compatible with me, I would still be eternally grateful to you for trying (and you might help someone else).
