The quality of your intimate relationships will determine the quality of your life.
So why aren't we taught this in school?
Because our society values our productivity, not our growth.
It therefore becomes our responsibility to teach it to ourselves.
So here we go!:
The average 'intimate' relationship in today's world is not that intimate. Studies have shown that most intimate relationships are really either a friendship, a division of labor agreement, a loneliness-avoiding strategy, a business contract, or a survival method.
How sad!...especially when that exact same intimate relationship has the potential to bring you:
-The feeling of being eternally cared for
-The opportunity to devote your heart to another.
-immediate access to incredible pleasure, joy and passion.
-the greatest possible fulfillment one can experience in life.
Most intimate relationships ultimately fail because of the pervasive misconception that love peaks at the beginning of the relationship.
This myth is perpetuated by the ideology that deep love is caused by novelty, excitement and raging hormones; i.e., the honeymoon period.
But the spark of falling in love is just that: a spark.
A spark does not keep a flame alive forever, only adding fuel to the fire does.
So most people manifest the self-fulfilling prophecy of experiencing their greatest love at the beginning of their relationship and then allow the fire to burn out once the novelty and excitement wear off.
A true healthy intimate relationship, on the other hand, does the exact opposite; it actually grows with time.
In a healthy intimate relationship, there is still the same spark, passion, and hormonal surge at the beginning, but there's also the building of a foundation: a foundation of love, trust and devotion. Once that foundation has been set, the juicier layers of unconditional love can be built upon it. This happens as each partner methodically and consistently adds fuel to the fire with their presence, commitment, caring and devotion. After decades of fueling this fire, they will have created a bonfire of passion that their initial spark could only dream of!
So this is what most couples miss out on when they don't adequately invest in their relationship: a union that's hotter in their 80's than it was in their 20's!
Sounds attractive, right?!
This is what we will be exploring in the next Man Cave on Wednesday, May 27 from 1- 2:15 PM EST.
I will be sharing my own personal experiences, before/after stories and the methodology that I've found to be very successful.
The first session of the Man Cave is free for all newcomers so simply message me for the free Zoom link.
