Day 4 at AVI 2026 - International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces starts with Stefania Serafin's keynote.
Stefania stressed on the need to shift from purely visual interfaces to multisensory interfaces integrating sound, touch, movement, and internal and external bodily signals.
She outlined a design perspective centered on human diversity, where multisensory systems adapt to different perceptual abilities and contexts, opening new directions for interactive creativity and accessibility.

Day 3 of AVI 2026 - International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces concluded with an amazing keynote by Hiroshi Ishii, posing the question "Life has an endpoint, but the future is never-ending. Technology soon becomes obsolete, but true vision is everlasting. What legacy will you leave for those living in 2200?”

The morning sessions today at AVI 2026 - International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces included 3 parallel paper presentation sessions exploring topics ranging from diverse users and contexts, to dynamic urban spaces, and novel approaches to interacting with visual information.

It was so inspiring to see such a breadth of research bringing together perspectives on creativity, accessibility, interaction, ethics, and emerging technologies within the HCI community.

First keynote today at AVI 2026 - International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces was by Francesco Riccii on “Trustworthy Recommender Systems for Multiple Stakeholders”
Francesco talked about how AI-powered recommender systems shape the choices we make online. He explored approaches for evaluating and improving the trustworthiness of these systems, for multiple stakeholders.

Today we formally welcomed all participants at the AVI 2026 - International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces.
Our General Chairs Antonella De Angeli, and Albrecht Schmidt, welcomed the participants and introduced this year's theme of the conference: "Interactive Creativity: Agencies, Interfaces, and Ethics", as well as the venue.
Programme Chairs Rosella Gennari and Fabio Pittarello introduced the other chairs and the organising committee. They also talked about the conference programme, engagement by the research community in this year's conference, overall submissions and international submissions received, types of submissions, and publicity strategy.
