The President of the First Biennial of Malaysia in 2015, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan announced the appointment of Don Nazrain, Lutfi Johari, Imran Clyde and Giana Zulkafli, Directors and Tom Kovac As Artistic Director of the Malaysia Biennial 2015, which will open in August 2015.
The Artistic Director (Curator) Tom Kovac, announced the theme of the Malaysia Biennial 2015 - 100YC [Year City] World Wide Workshop, during the last weekend of the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale. Kovac promotes a direction for an architecture of the future, town planning and development of homes, with emphasis on improving the quality of life in the future Malaysia, through creative design and focused on experimentation and innovation.
The artistic director Tom Kovac said " The ambitions of Malaysia Biennial 2015 are to create a global workshop of open source collaboration, an international event that contemplates the possibility of a future for Malaysia in the next 100 years. As part of the14th Venice Architecture Biennale, Fundamentals directed by Rem Koolhaas, invited researchers and architects will participate in the 100YC world wide architecture Biennale Sessions event, discussing the directions of the Future Malaysia project as the first stage of the Malaysian Biennial 2015.
100YC [Year City] is a global research project supported of the Malaysian Ministry of Urban Wellbeing and the Ministry of Housing wellness and led by RMIT University School of Architecture & Design, with support and participation by leading international researchers, architecture schools and institutions.
