On this day, we reflect on a pivotal moment in history: the "Earthrise" photo taken during the Apollo 8 mission (over 5 decades ago). Seeing our home suspended in the vast darkness of space for the first time changed everything: We recognized the profound vulnerability of our planet and sparked the very first Earth Day just one year later.

Today, that vision is more critical than ever. We know that human health and the health of our planet are inseparable. To steward this fragile balance for generations to come, we need dedicated, compassionate leadership.

Today, Thursday 17 July, at 18:00 is the inauguration of a new community project "Heat Emergency – Summer 2025" at the Antonella Sesino Gardens, Corso Farini (next to Campus Einaudi). The project, promoted by the City of Turin, and in collaboration with the Municipal Civil Protection Department and the University of Turin, aims to inform and raise awareness among the public—particularly the elderly and vulnerable—about the risks associated with high temperatures and the correct behaviors to adopt to protect their health.

From 18:00 to 20:00 a gazebo will be open and staff will provide useful information on how to safely cope with the heat. Free blood pressure checks will also be available.

Subsequent events are scheduled for July 22 (also in Corso Farini), July 24, and July 29.

Oggi, giovedì 17 luglio, alle ore 18:00 inaugurazione del progetto sperimentale “Emergenza Caldo – Estate 2025” in giardini Antonella Sesino di corso Farini (vicino Campus Einaudi), promosso dalla Città di Torino con l’obiettivo di informare e sensibilizzare la popolazione – in particolare le persone anziane e fragili – sui rischi legati alle alte temperature e sui corretti comportamenti da adottare per proteggere la propria salute.

Dalle 18 alle 20, grazie alla collaborazione con la Città di Torino (l’assessore Francesco Tresso), Protezione Civile Comunale e Università degli Studi di Torino, sarà operativo un gazebo con il personale che fornirà informazioni utili su come affrontare il caldo in sicurezza. Sarà inoltre possibile effettuare gratuitamente una misurazione della pressione arteriosa.

I successivi appuntamenti sono in programma il 22 luglio (sempre in corso Farini), il 24 e 29 luglio.

A huge congratulations to our newly minted Masters of Sustainability in Health from the University of Turin! 🎓🇮🇹

It was an honor to close a successful year and celebrate the graduation of a truly remarkable group of students from our Sustainability in Health Master's program at the Università degli Studi di Torino on 16 May! 🎓🇮🇹

Our students, representing 9 different countries, presented their inspiring capstone projects last week, showcasing their passion, dedication and innovative ideas for implementing sustainable practices in their work and communities. Afterwards, we celebrated their achievements with a special ceremony.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and stewardship for creating a more sustainable future for the health of our planet and its living beings. 🌎 🌿 We wish them all the best as they embark on their next adventures and make a positive impact on the world. Go forth and make a difference!
