We express our deepest solidarity with all communities affected by the devastating wildfires across Southern Europe, particularly in Spain and France. Our thoughts are with the families, local communities, firefighters, emergency services, volunteers, and all those working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and these exceptional territories.
UNESCO Global Geoparks are living territories where nature, culture, and local communities are inseparably connected. The recent fires remind us of the growing challenges posed by climate change and highlight the urgent need to strengthen prevention measures, promote sustainable landscape management, and enhance the resilience of rural communities.
We stand alongside all those affected during these difficult times and sincerely hope that the fires will soon be brought under control, allowing communities to begin the long process of recovery. Together, we remain committed to protecting our shared natural and cultural heritage and supporting the resilience of the territories that preserve it.
