True, being a Pilgrim is hard. Fatigue, exertion, patience, perseverance, walking in the rain sometimes, eating at odd times. Sh****ng in the woods (that is actually a plus). But once you get there, celebration has a different taste.

🌻THE PILGRIMAGE AT 2025!🌻We just had a first public dissemination of the Pilgrimage to Sustainability in Marsciano (Perugia), where we were able to tell about the experience to a group of Umbrian NGOs and to the Marsciano Municipality in a meeting called "PIÙ FORTE L'UMBRIA IN Erasmus+" (A Stronger Umbria in E+)

🥾WALK IT OFF!🥾
On the surface of it (pun intended), we all know the many benefits of walking: improved energy, production of endorfines, reduction in the use of smartphones, control of appetite, improved cardiovascular health, and many more.
YET, the Erasmus+ Pilgrimage To Sustainability allowed us to explore something that has been disregarded so far: the benefits of walking IN THE CONTEXT OF THE TRAINING PROCESS.
Seen from the perspective of the process of developing skills - particularly if those skills are the so-called "soft" skills, hence with an important social, relational, emotional perspective, walking becomes an indispensable aide, an important tool, as well as a key ally of trainers and participants altogether.
We'll offer a comprehensive study of this aspect in the forthcoming book on the Pilgrimage experience - yet, at this point, we invite all readers to share their thoughts on this issue: what are, in your opinion, the advantages of walking IN THE CONTEXT OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT? Share your opinion in the comments section....

👣 DAY 8: CAPRIGNONE > VALFABBRICA 👣
The rain came early in the morning and we departed earlier to avoid the most intense rain moment.
The leg from Caprignone to Valfabbrica, passing through Biscina, passes next to the Valfabbrica dam and offers extraordinary landscapes.
We succeeded, everyone arrived at the Valfabbrica hostel just before a torrential rain started and we used the afternoon hours with an art workshop by Lucia.

In this path, one of the skills that we wanted to convey to our Youth Workers/participants was precisely the competence of flexibility, being able to adapt activities to the situations that arise, both in terms of timing and in terms of spaces. The path leads to developing these concepts in a concrete way, it is necessary to constantly adapt the program to the weather and consequently adapt the activities to the spaces available along the route. This is one of the fundamental aspects of every pilgrim, and it becomes an incredible learning even for all the professionals we have accompanied.

🌾The organizing team: training coordinator Angelo Fanelli🌾
Erasmus+ has been an important occasion of growing for Angelo: "after more than 15 years as a professor of Leadership and Management in several international business schools, my whole relationship with teaching fell apart when I realized the futility of teaching theories, models, and elaborate linguistic clichées that would not change a iota of people's lives - and mine as well. I left academia, and after a few years of (soul)searching, I realized that experiential learning and action-learning were what I had been searching all along. The E+ program has been a great opportunity to explore, experiment and innovate in this respect, and the Erasmus+ Pilgrimage To Sustainability grew out of this fertile soil, allowing us to bring Theatre, the Arts, and Medieval techniques to bear onto the process of learning sustainability."
🍅Angelo is currently working on a forthcoming book documenting the pedagogical approach of the Pilgrimage to Sustainability.

👣DAY 7: ARRIVAL IN CAPRIGNONE 👣
In the mid-afternoon of the seventh day we arrived in , a very suggestive place for all of us.
The church stands on a hill to the right of the Chiascio river in a place now lost in the woods. In the Middle Ages, however, it was on the main road that connected Assisi to Gubbio, and already in the 13th century it was traveled by pilgrims and merchants.
It was precisely here that Saint Francis between 1223 and 1224 organized the first meeting outside the walls of Assisi, with the first three hundred friars, to develop the rule of the Franciscan order to be brought to Rome.

It is here that thanks to the partnership with the Diocesi of Gubbio, whom we thank infinitely, we too held the Sustainability Pilgrimage Council.

A Council to reflect on what sustainability is for each of us, to deal with the difficulties of this journey, on what tools this ongoing course brings to our work, on how each of us decides to give the group a piece of themselves themselves to contribute to this project.

At the end of the Council the rain that we had been waiting for for a couple of days began.
