ON APRIL 21, 2025, THE CHURCH WEPT.
The passing of Pope Francis marked not just the end of a pontificate, but the farewell to a shepherd who walked closely with his people—especially the poor, the forgotten, and the wounded.
From the moment he stepped onto the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica and humbly asked the world to pray for him, to his final days marked by quiet strength and unwavering faith, he chose a path of mercy over majesty, presence over power.
He was not a distant figure in white, but a lolo to many—a father who listened, a pastor who embraced, and a servant who reminded the Church of its true mission: to love without limits.
Yet even as the Church wept, it also hoped.
For he left this world during the Easter Octave—a season that proclaims that death does not have the final word. And perhaps, in his final witness, he was still teaching us: that to live in Christ is to trust that beyond every cross, there is resurrection.
On April 21, 2025, the Church wept—
but heaven surely rejoiced.
