For the past year, Gail Ellis and I have been working on a project which combines picturebooks, knowledge, and resources to create an open-access educational tool that supports student teachers, teachers and teacher educators in using picturebooks for English Language Teaching. The project is the Words & Pictures Library and fills a gap by offering a one-stop, online resource that covers the who, what, and how of picturebook-based ELT, making it an invaluable tool to create engaging, literature-rich learning experiences. This project will remain a work in progress but today we are ready to share with the world of ELT.

We have also compiled a Word Bank for picturebook-based ELT (as far as we are aware) to assist and enrich student teachers, teachers and teacher educators with some of the specific terms related to picturebooks and English language teaching so they can talk about picturebooks confidently with colleagues and learners. Insieme a Bell Beyond, ente riconosciuto nell'organizzazione di eventi didattici, il nostro Istituto ha organizzato un campus estivo per i ragazzi della Scuola Primaria completamente in LINGUA INGLESE che si terrà nel mese di giugno. Un’esperienza unica per tutti i bambini che vorranno divertirsi insieme a tutors madrelingua per tutta la giornata!

L'approccio sarà di tipo ludico-didattico, finalizzato all'apprendimento della lingua attraverso il gioco e il divertimento, potenziando la produzione orale e motivando i bambini ad esprimersi direttamente in inglese con il minimo sforzo.

Attività fatta in questa settimana con i bambini di classe terza, ispirata dal video del libro “What’s in my house” pubblicato sul gruppo “Storytelling per l’insegnamento della Lingua Inglese”. L’attività l’ho presa dal sito delle , mentre io ho creato le domande per ogni stanza a cui i bambini hanno risposto, dopo aver creato la loro 3D house. Abbiamo anche cantato le risposte a mo’ di rap.
