In early September, our plans to sail the Balearics Islands with the family were scuttled due to bad weather. Instead, we took the train to Madrid for a few days.

The first stop was the Royal Palace, where you can walk thru 50 of the 3,418 rooms. It was built in 1738 and was home to the kings Spain until 1931.

Our kids met us in Valencia in early September. The International GP Sailing competition was held in the harbor there. We didn't see the race, but we heard that USA won!! We also witnessed the big protest against the Moroccan invasion of Ceuta, Spain, in the main square.
