"Una delle ragioni per cui gli imballaggi, in particolare quelli in plastica, ricevono le maggiori critiche da parte dell’opinione pubblica o di alcuni media è che sono incredibilmente resistenti e durevoli e tendono quindi ad avere un impatto sull’ambiente a causa della loro persistenza e permanenza.
Tuttavia, questa caratteristica è anche quella che rende i packaging particolarmente efficaci nel proteggere i prodotti, garantendone l’igiene e la sicurezza per i consumatori.

Non esistono a priori materiali o imballaggi migliori o peggiori di altri, ma solo soluzioni di packaging in grado di rispondere in modo più o meno appropriato ed equilibrato alle esigenze e ai requisiti di uno specifico contesto di produzione, vendita, consumo e post-consumo."
