يُعد إدوارد برنايز (Edward Bernays) من أبرز الشخصيات التي أثّرت في تشكيل علم العلاقات العامة بصورته الحديثة، حتى لُقّب بـ”أبو العلاقات العامة”. وُلد عام 1891، وكان ابن أخت عالم النفس الشهير سيغموند فرويد، الأمر الذي لعب دوراً مهماً في تشكيل أفكاره، حيث استلهم من نظريات التحليل النفسي لفهم سلوك الجماهير والتأثير عليهم.

من أشهر حملاته ما عُرف بـ”مشاعل الحرية”، حيث عمل على تشجيع النساء في الولايات المتحدة على التدخين، ليس من خلال الترويج المباشر للسجائر، بل عبر ربطها بفكرة التحرر والمساواة بين الجنسين. وقد نجحت هذه الحملة في تغيير سلوك اجتماعي كامل، وأصبحت مثالاً واضحاً على قوة التأثير النفسي في العلاقات العامة.

في النهاية، يمكن القول إن إدوارد برنايز لم يكن مجرد ممارس للعلاقات العامة، بل كان منظّراً ومؤسساً لفلسفة جديدة في التواصل مع الجمهور. فقد غيّر الطريقة التي تفكر بها المؤسسات في التأثير على الناس، وجعل من العلاقات العامة أداة قوية تُستخدم في مختلف المجالات، من السياسة إلى الاقتصاد إلى الثقافة.

Edward Bernays is considered one of the most prominent figures who shaped the field of public relations in its modern form, earning him the title “Father of Public Relations.” He was born in 1891 and was the nephew of the renowned psychologist Sigmund Freud, which played a significant role in shaping his ideas. He drew on psychoanalytic theories to understand and influence mass behavior.
One of his most famous campaigns was known as the “Torches of Freedom,” in which he encouraged women in the United States to smoke cigarettes—not through direct promotion, but by linking smoking to the ideas of liberation and gender equality. This campaign succeeded in changing an entire social behavior and became a clear example of the power of psychological influence in public relations.
In conclusion, Edward Bernays was not merely a practitioner of public relations, but also a theorist and founder of a new philosophy of communication with the public. He transformed the way institutions think about influencing people and turned public relations into a powerful tool used across various fields, including politics, economics, and culture.

⁨ ضمن مسيرتي المهنية في مجال العلاقات العامة، أتيحت لي الفرصة المميزة للسفر إلى المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية في مهمة تدريبية متخصصة استمرت 42 يوماً بشكل منفصل، وذلك في منتصف مسيرتي الوظيفية.
جاءت هذه الزيارة بتنظيم من مكتب الأمم المتحدة لخدمات المشاريع (UNOPS)، بهدف التدريب المكثف على سياسات العلاقات الخاصة بالمؤسسات الحكومية، وآليات بناء الشراكات المؤسسية، وتعزيز الاتصال الاستراتيجي وفق المعايير الدولية. Throughout my professional career in the field of Public Relations, I had the valuable opportunity to travel to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for a specialized training mission that lasted 42 separate days, during the middle stage of my career.
This visit was organized by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), with the aim of intensive training on government institutional relations policies, mechanisms for building institutional partnerships, and strengthening strategic communication in accordance with international standards.⁩

ضمن برنامج التبادل الثقافي International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)، اجرينا زيارة مهنية إلى وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، حيث اطلعنا على آليات العمل المؤسسي وإدارة العلاقات الدولية والدبلوماسية العامة.
كانت تجربة ثرية عززت لدي فهم أهمية التواصل الفعّال وبناء الشراكات في بيئات متعددة الثقافات. As part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), I had the honor of participating in a professional visit to the U.S. Department of State, where we gained insight into institutional operations, international relations management, and public diplomacy practices.
It was a valuable experience that strengthened my understanding of effective communication and partnership-building within multicultural environments.

ضمن برنامج الاطلاع على ثقافة الشعوب، وبدعوة من وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، كانت لنا محطة مميزة بزيارة أكبر ملعب لكرة السلة في واشنطن العاصمة، كابيتال وان أرينا.
هذه الزيارة لم تكن رياضية فحسب، بل تجربة ثقافية متكاملة تعكس كيف تتحول الرياضة إلى لغة مشتركة تجمع الناس على اختلاف خلفياتهم. من لحظة دخولنا للملعب، كان التنظيم، وروح الجمهور، والطاقة الإيجابية، رسالة واضحة عن أهمية الرياضة في بناء الجسور بين المجتمعات Under the program to learn about the cultures of peoples, and with a kind invitation from the United States Department of State, we had a special stop to visit the largest basketball arena in Washington, D.C., Capital One Arena.

This visit was not only about sports, but a complete cultural experience that reflects how athletics can become a common language bringing people together despite their different backgrounds. From the moment we entered the arena, the organization, the spirit of the crowd, and the positive energy delivered a clear message about the importance of sports in building bridges between communities.

في وزارة التخطيط قدمت دورة تدريبية تخصصية لموظفيها من مختلف التشكيلات، بحضور السيد المدير العام ومعاونه، تناولت محاور متقدمة في الإتيكيت الوظيفي ومنظومة العلاقات العامة داخل المؤسسة.
واستعرضت الدورة أحدث المفاهيم المعتمدة في تنظيم العلاقات المهنية، وقواعد السلوك الوظيفي، وآليات التواصل الفعّال بما يعزز بيئة عمل قائمة على الاحترام المتبادل والاحترافية، ويسهم في تطوير الأداء المؤسسي ورفع كفاءة العمل الجماعي. At the Ministry of Planning, I delivered a specialized training course for employees from various departments, in the presence of the Director General and his assistant. The program addressed advanced topics in workplace etiquette and the public relations system within the institution.
The course reviewed the latest recognized concepts in organizing professional relationships, rules of workplace conduct, and mechanisms of effective communication, in a way that promotes a work environment based on mutual respect and professionalism, contributing to institutional development and enhancing team performance.

كنت قد قدمت محاضرة تخصصية بعنوان قواعد الإتيكيت الوظيفي للموظفين في المفوضية العليا لحقوق الإنسان، بهدف تعزيز الثقافة المهنية وترسيخ معايير السلوك المؤسسي داخل بيئة العمل.
وتناولت المحاضرة جملة من المحاور الأساسية، من بينها أسس التعامل المهني، وآليات التواصل الفعّال، وبناء الصورة الوظيفية الإيجابية، بما يسهم في رفع مستوى الأداء وتحقيق الانسجام بين الموظفين بما ينسجم مع رسالة المفوضية ومهامها. I delivered a specialized lecture on professional workplace etiquette for newly appointed staff at the High Commission for Human Rights. The session focused on professional conduct, effective communication, and building a positive image to enhance performance in alignment with the Commission’s mission.

في إطار الاهتمام بتبادل الخبرات الثقافية والانفتاح على المجتمعات الدولية، جاءت زيارتي إلى المكسيك للاطلاع عن قرب على ثقافتها الغنية ونظام العلاقات الاجتماعية فيها.
وقد لفت الانتباه قوة الروابط الإنسانية بين أفراد المجتمع المكسيكي، وحرصهم الكبير على العلاقات الاجتماعية والتقاليد المتجذّرة منذ مئات السنين، ما يعكس نموذجًا إنسانيًا متماسكًا قائمًا على الاحترام والتواصل والتلاحم الأسري والمجتمعي . My visit to Mexico was a great opportunity to explore its rich culture and strong social values. What stood out the most was the deep connection between people, their appreciation for relationships, and traditions that have been preserved for hundreds of years. A society built on strong bonds, respect, and a true sense of community.

كنت قد تشرفتُ بتقديم محاضرة تخصصية في مجال العلاقات العامة والإتيكيت الوظيفي في وزارة الثقافة العراقية، بحضور السادة مدير عام الدائرة الإدارية ومدير قسم التدريب، وبإشراف وحضور مكتب معالي الوزير. وتناولت المحاضرة محاور أساسية حول مهارات التواصل المهني، وبناء الصورة المؤسسية، وأسس الإتيكيت الوظيفي داخل بيئة العمل الحكومي، بما يسهم في تعزيز الأداء المؤسسي ورفع مستوى الاحترافية في التعامل الإداري.I was honored to deliver a specialized lecture in the field of Public Relations and Professional Etiquette at the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, in the presence of the Director General of the Administrative Department and the Head of the Training Department, under the supervision and attendance of the Office of His Excellency the Minister.
The lecture covered key topics related to professional communication skills, building institutional image, and the principles of professional etiquette within the governmental work environment, contributing to enhancing institutional performance and raising the level of professionalism in administrative practices.

تشرفتُ بتقديم محاضرة تخصصية بعنوان "إتيكيت الاجتماعات الرسمية" لإدارة كلية التربية البدنية وعلوم الرياضة في الجامعة المستنصرية، بحضور السيد عميد الكلية وعدد من الأساتذة التدريسيين ورؤساء الأقسام، حيث تناولت المحاضرة أهم القواعد المهنية والسلوكية التي تسهم في تنظيم الاجتماعات الرسمية وتعزيز فاعلية التواصل المؤسسي داخل البيئة الجامعية. I was honored to deliver a specialized lecture entitled "Official Meeting Etiquette" to the administration of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Mustansiriyah University, in the presence of the Dean of the College, along with a number of faculty members and heads of departments. The lecture addressed the key professional and behavioral principles that contribute to organizing official meetings and enhancing effective institutional communication within the academic environment.

I was honored to deliver an exceptional lecture at the University of Baghdad, addressing the principles of etiquette within the university campus, in front of a distinguished group of students and with the kind participation of faculty members. It was an inspiring experience that highlights the importance of behavioral awareness in building a refined and responsible university generation.
