IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members – advised and proctored by an IEEE member, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch – compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems.

The main objective of STEP event is to-
Recognize student members as they graduate and become part of local YP community.
Introducing graduate student members to the local IEEE entity (Young Professionals) beyond IEEE Student Branch.
Illustrate IEEE benefits which are appropriate for young professionals.
Retain student members as they are elevated to higher grade IEEE members by communicating and demonstrating the value of IEEE membership for young professionals starting new careers.

Dear IEEE Student member,

You may be aware that recently, the IEEE Hyderabad section, Education Society and the SAC have jointly launched a program named 'Skill Connect’. This program is aimed about providing Employability skills to the 3rd Year Engineering Students. "Employability" comes when we have a good grip on what the employer wants from us (i.e) ‘ability to do’.
We build employability skills or 'competence to do' by providing competence in technical topics and by getting each of you to build specific applications that are similar to what companies want. Later we provide, to as many as possible, internship with various Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs). This year the SMEs we have are those that deal with Embedded software, those that build mobile research programs, those who use it for Healthcare industry and so on.

The program provides employable skills only and does not promise employment. Please note this.

We have already started this in some colleges with the College Managements and the IEEE Branch Counsellors. However, in order to make this available to all the students interested and who are part of IEEE student branches, we are sending this invitation to all of you. All of you who are interested in putting in the effort and doing this training to get employable skills, are advised to join this. Our brochure for this is attached.
Please respond to this mail along with the Response form filled in.

The program is aligned with college and University calendar

Highlights:
Duration: May end 2015 to December 2015
Eligibility Only IEEE Student Branch Member
Internship or Project work: January to April 2016
Technology streams: Linux/Python, Java/J2EE or C & Embedded Systems
Phases in the Program:
Basic or Primitive training: May end to June end - Provided by 3rd Party - Cost to be paid by each of you
Development Workshops: July to August/Sept 2016 (6-8 during weekends) - Provided by IEEE Hyderabad Section - No cost involved for students
Internships: Jan - April 2016 - For those selected by Small and Medium Segment enterprises
Project work: Jan - April 2016 - For all others and will be similarly done under guidance of IEEE Experienced experts
At the end of the Workshops, those who clear the tests and qualify will be eligible for internships to the extent available
Quizzes and Tests will be conducted at the end of each phase and only those who qualify will go to the next phase of the program

The IEEE-MVGR SB was inaugrated in 2006 with 4 memberrs stepping forward voluntarily to form the board.
Mission:
• To provide oppurtnity for the students to innovate and implement their knowledge and perception in the interested field of engineering by conducting activities based on them.
• Creating awareness of ieee organisation and its importance for their forwarding their technical knowledge.

Vision:
• Mvgr ieee student branch and its student chapter aim at filling the gaps of knowledge & practical cognition of students for their development in the fields of engineering.
• Adavancing the technology and in turn solving the problems of present society by presenting the solution, factoring all possible outcomes.

The formation of the student chapter dates back 7 years with a meagre three members with support of faculty who are ieee members and with progress in time its members and its reputation have grown.By setting goals and achieving milestones, conducting events and programmes the response from students increased and currently the SB has an outstanding number of 107 members and still growing rapidly. The student members of the SB have also participated actively in multiple events including international conferences. The SB was divided into many groups in order for well acheivement of the established goals which are
1) IEEE student chapter
2) IEEE CS Student Chapter

As per the rules stipulated by IEEE for a student branch, the executive committee must be passed on to the successive batch of students every year.
