Greenhouse had it's first field trip! The children and their families enjoyed a fun and insightful trip to the Mangroves to watch Flamingos and other Mangrove creatures. We stopped to observe mud crabs, looked at each other through our paper binoculars and had fun watching the flamingos in flight. Greenhouse absolutely delights in learning both within and beyond the classroom. We endeavour to bring the best possible experiences to our children because we believe they have incredible potential within them. A big colourful project for little hands! Children are capable of so much more than what we think they can or cannot. This multi-step tie & dye project had a lot of practical life work built in! Wringing a wet cloth with both hands or squeezing a spray bottle and aiming it at a particular spot or knowing when to stop! Education can be fun, tangible and purposeful. Food prep activities & other practical life work are opportunities that help children feel accomplished! They experience great joy and self esteem when they are given the freedom and the help to do what adults do. Greenhouse cares greatly about helping children grow in independence - which is why we have a custom made children's kitchenette as the core of our environment. It is our most loved space with a daily setup for children to make their own snack. All of Montessori education involves movement - be it math or language or practical life work or culture! At Greenhouse, children get to also engage in specific physical activities that aim to develop their bodies in a myriad of ways - take a look at a sample of these activities. We may not be able to touch the planets right now but we certainly saw them come to life in our planet study. Paired with a book on Planets, these 3D forms helped us visualise more concretely where the planets stood in relation to the Sun or to each other. It was exciting to see what each child remembered about the individual planets - the red planet, the planet that can only be seen with a telescope or the planet with a bright red spot..

Celebrating our first Republic day was so much fun. In partnership with our loving neighbours next door (from Your Neighbourhood Church), the children celebrated by making and serving their own tiranga themed paneer skewers! Montessori classrooms around the world believe in a strong sense of community! When children connect with and experience a community, they feel they are a part of something way bigger than their own families /friends. We loved seeing them take ownership of their little stalls, refill their dishes and graciously serve the guests who visited them. .

Our first medical camp! Done by Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Aarjav Beswal and in partnership with Your Neighbourhood Church, the interactive talk & Q&A was very helpful for young families to understand a child's dental health. We had our children checked up in a fun and friendly way! Our takeaways: milk teeth need care too, never wait until it hurts, brush twice a week and avoid eating sugary foods frequently.
