Liver cirrhosis is the late stage of chronic liver disease, causing scarring that leads to complications like portal hypertension (increased pressure in the portal vein) and hepatic dysfunction (impaired liver function). These issues can cause sequelae such as fluid buildup (ascites), gastrointestinal bleeding from varices, hepatic encephalopathy (brain dysfunction), kidney failure (hepatorenal syndrome), and an increased risk of liver cancer. Early symptoms can be mild or absent, while later symptoms include jaundice, easy bruising, fatigue, and confusion.

Understanding Intubation
Intubation is the process of inserting a tube into the trachea to maintain an open airway, allow mechanical ventilation, and protect the airway from aspiration.
πIndications
Intubation is performed when a patient cannot maintain their airway or needs ventilatory support:
β’ Airway obstruction (e.g., trauma, swelling, foreign body)
β’ Respiratory failure or severe hypoxia
β’ Apnea or inadequate breathing (cardiac arrest)
β’ Coma or decreased level of consciousness (e.g., GCS β€ π
β’ Major surgery requiring general anesthesia
β’ Need for airway protection (vomiting, aspiration risk)
