Ashok Kumar Mehta, maker of these flutes, comes from a long line of musicians who live in the classical music capital of India--Varanasi. He learned to play flute from his father and grandfather, beginning at age 8. He also learned from Varanasi Bansuri great, Rajendra Passanna. Ashok won first prize in the Nehro festival at Mahaosav Benares in 1995 as well as first prize in the all-college compet
ition in Varanasi. He has performed all over India and has been invited to perform on television and radio. Ashok Mehta has also played in many countries, including France, Finland, Estonia, Scotland and England. He has students now from all over the world. These flutes by Ashok are world class.
