The spirit of patriotism & national pride resonated across the campus as the university celebrated the 80th . The main ceremony took place at Amphitheatre Ground, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi hoisted the tricolor.

In his address, Prof. Chaturvedi recalled the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle and said that 15th August is also an occasion to remember and pay tributes to all those great heroes who made their sacrifices for the country.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the struggle for independence gave Indians not only freedom but also a shared national identity. Irrespective of social, linguistic or professional backgrounds, he emphasised that the first and foremost identity of every citizen is that of an Indian.

The programme also witnessed enthralling cultural performances by students from Central Hindu Girls School, Central Hindu Boys School, and Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya. Celebrations began with flag hoisting at the iconic Malaviya Bhawan.

Registrar Shri Rajan Srivastava hoisted National Flag at Central Office premises. Addressing members of Central Registry, the Registrar recalled Mahamana’s vision that education must create responsible citizens committed to the nation & society, with BHU embodying this vision.

Banaras Hindu University campus, known globally for its greenery and plant diversity, houses over 50,000 trees belonging to 158 species and 50 families. This has been revealed in a comprehensive tree census carried out by the University with the aim of documenting BHU’s tree population and conserving and promoting its green legacy. The findings of the census, compiled in the form of a book titled Trees of BHU, were released on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2026.

हर घर तिरंगा अभियान-2026 के अंतर्गत काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय में तिरंगा रैली का आयोजन किया गया। राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना-बीएचयू के तत्वावधान में आयोजित तिरंगा रैली का कुलपति प्रो. अजित कुमार चतुर्वेदी ने हरी झंडी दिखाकर शुभारंभ किया। मालवीय भवन प्रांगण से प्रारंभ हुई यह रैली डीएसडब्ल्यू चौराहा होते हुए, वाणिज्य संकाय से होकर एम्फीथिएटर मैदान पर संपन्न हुई। रैली में एनएसएस स्वयंसेवकों तथा विद्यार्थियों ने हाथों में तिरंगा लेकर देशभक्ति के नारों के साथ उत्साहपूर्वक प्रतिभागिता की। कुलपति जी ने कहा कि स्वतंत्रता दिवस केवल किसी एक संस्था, कार्यालय या घर तक सीमित उत्सव नहीं है, बल्कि यह पूरे देश का राष्ट्रीय पर्व है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत का तिरंगा हमारी राष्ट्रीय पहचान, अस्मिता और गौरव का प्रतीक है। कुलसचिव श्री राजन श्रीवास्तव ने भी विद्यार्थियों का उत्साहवर्धन किया और कहा कि युवा पीढ़ी की प्रतिभागिता प्रेरणादायक है।

In its pursuit of providing advanced medical care and health infrastructure to the public, BHU’s Department of Cardiology has commissioned new State-of-the-Art equipment that will significantly enhance its capacity to deliver advanced cardiac diagnostic services to heart patients, as well as specialised fetal cardiac assessment.

The facilities include a Fetal Echocardiography Machine and an Advanced Echocardiography Machine. The new equipment are expected to significantly benefit patients from Purvanchal and neighbouring regions, including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Nepal, by expanding access to advanced and specialised cardiac care at the institute.

पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय पीठ, काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा “भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरा एवं पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय का चिंतन : वैश्विक परिप्रेक्ष्य एवं समकालीन प्रासंगिकता” विषयक तीन दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। सम्मेलन का उद्देश्य भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरा की विविधता, समृद्धि एवं समकालीन प्रासंगिकता तथा पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के चिंतन के विभिन्न आयामों पर वैश्विक परिप्रेक्ष्य में अकादमिक विमर्श को बढ़ावा देना है।

कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए कुलपति प्रो. अजित कुमार चतुर्वेदी ने पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के विचारों की मौलिकता एवं उनकी समकालीन प्रासंगिकता पर गंभीरता से विचार करने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय जैसे चिंतकों के विचारों को समझने और उन्हें समकालीन संदर्भ में सार्थक रूप से आगे बढ़ाने के लिए भारत की ऐतिहासिक एवं सामाजिक वास्तविकताओं को समझना आवश्यक है।

मुख्य वक्ता जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय की कुलपति प्रो. शांतिश्री धुलिपुड़ी पंडित ने कहा कि भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरा बौद्धिक बहुलता, आलोचनात्मक चिंतन और अकादमिक उत्कृष्टता पर आधारित विविधतापूर्ण सभ्यतागत ज्ञान परंपरा का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय ज्ञान प्रणाली केवल वैदिक परंपरा तक सीमित नहीं है बल्कि इसमें बौद्ध, जैन, सिख, तमिल, जनजातीय, मौखिक, लोक एवं विभिन्न क्षेत्रीय ज्ञान परंपराएं भी शामिल हैं।

मुख्य अतिथि श्री मिथिलेशनंदिनी शरण जी महाराज ने एकात्म मानववाद की दार्शनिक आधारभूमि की चर्चा करते हुए व्यष्टि, समष्टि, सृष्टि और परमेष्ठि की अवधारणाओं के माध्यम से पं. दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के चिंतन को समझने की आवश्यकता बताई। विशिष्ट अतिथि प्रो. आर. एस. दुबे, कुलाधिपति, राष्ट्रीय शैक्षिक योजना एवं प्रशासन संस्थान (NIEPA), नई दिल्ली ने भारतीय दार्शनिक चिंतन में व्यक्ति, समाज, राष्ट्र और प्रकृति के पारस्परिक संबंधों को रेखांकित किया।
