Team from IQAC, Dispur College,Dr. Jyotish Goswami, Dr. Mamani Kalita, Dr. Himadri Gogoi, and Dr. Shikha Jyoti Deka participated in the North East Education Conclave 2025, held on 18th October 2025 at the Pragjyotishpur University Campus, Hazongbari.

In Thematic Session IV, Dr. Shikha Jyoti Deka delivered an engaging talk on “Dispur College Initiatives Towards Excellence.” The session highlighted the pivotal role of Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs) in enhancing institutional quality, fostering innovation, and promoting continuous improvement in higher education.

With a special focus on the North East region, the session explored best practices, challenges, and strategies for achieving excellence through effective quality assurance mechanisms aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Dispur College successfully organized the Dr. Birendra Kumar Bhattacharyya Memorial Northeast Inter-College-University Debate Competition on 17.10.2025 in honour of the first Jnanpith Awardee from Assam, Dr. Birendra Kumar Bhattacharyya. The event, held at the Pratima Barua Pandey Auditorium, reflected a perfect blend of intellect, art and emotion.

The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Arup Jyoti Choudhury, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Madhabdev University, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Balendra Kumar Das, President of the Governing Body, Dispur College,Dr.Navajyoti Borah, Principal,Dispur College and Dr. Diganta Biswa Sarma, Member, Sahitya Akademi and Professor of Practice, IIT Guwahati and Dibrugarh University and also the Hon'ble Speaker for the Session.
The day-long debate competition was graced by distinguished judges — eminent debater and social worker Mr. Bedanta Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Goswami, Associate Professor, Department of English, Kamrup College, Chamata, and Dr. Kankana Goswami Bhardwaj, Professor, National Law University.

The ceremony also featured the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a traditional Gayan-Bayan performance, symbolizing Assam’s rich cultural heritage. A commemorative souvenir titled “Ojaswi."

Participants from various colleges and universities across Northeast India engaged in powerful and thought-provoking debates, demonstrating their intellect, confidence, and clarity of expression.

The event was organized under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Navajyoti Borah, President of the Organising Committee,Dr.Shashi Mohan Das, Working President,Sutibra Malakar along with the dedicated support of the faculty members and students of Dispur College.

In the valedictory session, the results were announced — Royal Global University and NEF College won the first and second prizes, respectively.

In addition, Ankita Chetri from B. Borooah College received the award for Best Debater.

In the individual category, the first, second, and third positions were secured by Ankita Chetri (B. Borooah College), Anol Ankush Bora (Gauhati University), and Kuldeep Bhattacharyya (NEF College) respectively.

The event concluded successfully with the presentation of prizes to the participants, followed by the soulful Assamese song "Mayabini Ratir Bukut” with paying tribute to our own Hearthrob Legendary Singer Zubeen Garg followed by the State Anthem and National Anthem.

We wholeheartedly congratulate all the participants and winners and all the support staff of Dispur College,Teaching and Non Teaching Staff, DCSU members of 2024-25, 2025-26, NCC, NSS, Volunteers and all committee members of BKB, Students of Dispur College.

The NSS Unit, in collaboration with the Department of History of the College successfully organized a State-Level Inter-Institutional Quiz Competition titled "The Idea of India" on October 9, 2025, at the Pratima Barua Pandey Auditorium.The Competition was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Dr. Navajyoti Borah. The event was jointly coordinated by Mr. Sutibra Malakar, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, and Ms. Serlin Engjaipi, Head, Department of History.

The competition marked the culmination of the fortnight-long celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's Legacy and saw participation from 36 teams across universities, colleges, and schools in Assam. Gauhati University teams secured the Champion and First Runners-Up positions, receiving Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 6,000, respectively. Bhattadev University was declared Second Runners-Up receiving Rs. 4000. Additionally, teams from Little Flower School (Nalbari), Gauhati Medical College, and Cotton University received appreciation awards of Rs. 1,500 each.

On the same day, the NSS Unit, in collaboration with the Departments of History and English, organized a food distribution drive in Ganeshguri and Christian Basti Area, further emphasizing the spirit of service and community engagement.

Dispur College Institution Innovation Council organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program for girl students under the Swabalambini Project in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, and NITI Aayog on October 15, 2025. The event aimed to promote entrepreneurship awareness and implementation of the project among 66 participating students.
The program commenced at 10 am with Mrs. Liky Deka and Mrs. Bornali Borah, Assistant Professors and trainers of the Swabalambini project, setting the context and discussing the project's objectives. Esteemed resource persons Mr. Pradyut Kumar Mahanta and Mr. Pradip Mazumdar shared valuable insights, inspiring the students.
Dr. Himangshu Kalita, President of IIC, Dispur College, ensured the event's success. We extend our gratitude to the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship and Dr. Navajyoti Borah, Principal of Dispur College, for their support and coordination.

The FLNAT Coordination Committee, Dispur College (a collaborative cooperation of the Internship and Apprenticeship Cell, Dispur College and the NSS Unit of the College) successfully conducted the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) - 2025 for the Dispur College Examination Centre on the 12th of October, 2025 (Sunday) at the Gopal Boro Government Higher Secondary School, Guwahati from 09:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M. The exam conducted as part of the ULLAS scheme of the New India Literacy Programme initiated by the Government of India and under the aegis of the Directorate of Non-Formal and Adult Education, Government of Assam, the State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) of Assam, and the District Administration, Kamrup Metropolitan aimed to eradicate illiteracy in Assam as well as India and to make Assam a cent-percent literate state. The exam witnessed the enthusiastic participation of a total of 63 adult illiterate learners of which 18 were male candidates and 45 were female. The exam was coordinated by Mr. Sutibra Malakar - Nodal Officer & Assistant Centre In-Charge, FLNAT, Dispur College alongwith Ms. Serlin Engjaipi and Mrs. Bornali Borah - Assistant Nodal Officers. The event was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Navajyoti Borah - Centre In-Charge, FLNAT, Dispur College. Mr. Rong Milon from the district authority paid an inspection visit and reviewed the Centre has having a significant and optimistic participation in terms of Kamrup Metropolitan.
