West Bengal has 15 wildlife sanctuaries, 6 national parks and 1 biosphere reserves now. The number of Royal Bengal Tigers in West Bengal's Sunderbans as per the 2022 census was *101* .As of February 2024, the Buxa Tiger Reserve in West Bengal has at least *one* resident tiger.

As of November 2023, India has 573 wildlife sanctuaries, 106 national parks and 18 biosphere reserves.
As of November 2024, India has 56 tiger reserves.
As of July 2023, the estimated number of tigers in India is 3,682, with a range of 3,167–3,925.
