Government High School Upper Thanoa celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and fervour on the school premises.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and Headmaster , Smt. Shama Gupta Ji, and the Guest of Honour, Ex-Sarpanch Sh Bankey Bihari Ji, who were felicitated with traditional pagdis. The Chief Guest then hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem.
The students presented an impressive March Past, led by Commander Mr. Ashish of Class 9th, with Troop Commanders Mr. Abhishek and Miss Priyanka. The disciplined performance of the boys’ and girls’ troops was highly appreciated by the gathering.
The cultural programme featured vibrant patriotic performances by students from Pre-Primary to Class 10th, including patriotic songs, dances, speeches and Punjabi performances.The performances reflected the students’ talent, confidence and love for the nation.
A special felicitation ceremony was organised to honour the meritorious Class 10th students of Session 2025–26 who achieved the highest marks in the school board examinations. Miss Navya secured third position, Mr. Sakeel Ahmed second position, and Miss Sakshi Sharma secured first position. The achievers were presented trophies and awards in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
The Guest of Honour addressed the gathering and shared inspiring thoughts on patriotism and the responsibilities of citizens. The Chief Guest, Smt. Shama Gupta Ji, also addressed the students and encouraged them to work hard, remain disciplined and contribute positively towards the nation.
The Vote of Thanks was presented by Smt. Neha Khajuria, Teacher, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, parents, local citizens, students and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The Stage Secretary, Sh. Avinash Thappa, Teacher, conducted the proceedings of the programme and anchored the entire event with patriotic shayari, inspiring quotes and engaging announcements, adding enthusiasm and dignity to the celebration.
The school appreciated the collective efforts and sincere cooperation of all the teachers, whose guidance, dedication and hard work helped make the Independence Day celebration a grand success.
The programme concluded with patriotic slogans of “Vande Mataram”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind”, leaving everyone with a strong sense of national pride and patriotism.
