Day-1 of Skill Development Workshop on Translation in Indian Languages (Kannada, Telugu & Urdu) sponsored by National Translation Mission, Central Institute of Indian Languages, held at Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tumkur University.

The three-day workshop was held from 25 to 27 May 2026. Scholar Dr. B. Janardana Bhat inaugurated the workshop and delivered the keynote address. Prof. Mohan H.S., Registrar (Evaluation), Tumkur University, chaired the inaugural ceremony. Dr. Tariq Khan, Officer-in-Charge, NTM addressed the delegates online. Prof. K. G. Parashurama, Dean, Faculty of Arts, TU, Dr. Chayadevi, Resource Person, NTM, Dr. Sibanthi Padmanabha K. V., Chairman, Dept. of JMC, TU, were present on the occasion.

Dr. S. P. Padmaprasad, veteran scholar, Dr. Mangala Gowri M., Associate Professor, Dept. of Physics, University College of Science, Tumkur, Sri Prabhas Pandith T.S., Assistant Professor of English, GFGC Sira, were the resource persons for the first day.

Festive fervor, great competition, and a lot of enthusiasm and energy....!

That was imPRESSion-2026, State-level media fest jointly organised by Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication of Tumkur University and Dept. of Journalism, University College of Arts.

18th and 19th of May 2026... two defining days.... many more memories to cherish....

The overall championship was shared by two teams: Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Mysore and Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication, Karnataka University, Dharwad. The Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication, Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University, Vijayapura were the runners.

Happy to share with you that we in collaboration with National Translation Mission (NTM), Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, are organising a 3-day Skill Development Workshop on Translation in Indian Languages (Kannada, Telugu and Urdu) from 25th to 27th May 2026.

About 60 postgraduate students and research scholars from different backgrounds will get hands-on training in translation from over 10 resource persons, during this period.
