The N.V.K.S.Hr.Sec. School is the first CBSE affiliated school in the Kanyakumari District. It was established in 1974 by the N.V.K.S. Educational Society as a model school for the N.V.K.S.D. College of Education at Attoor. Aims of the School:

(a) To broaden the vision of the children and make them useful citizens of the nation. (b) To foster sense of responsibility and co-operation, discipline &

self reliance. (c) To run good, independent, progressive school, consistent with Indian traditions and culture. (d) To give thorough general education to the child, using the latest methods and modern techniques of education. (e) To ensure all-round development of child's personality with due emphasis on academic, cultural, co-curricular activities, sports and character building activities. (f) And above all, to pay individual attention to the child, study his aptitudes and abilities, with a view to enable him to grow as a PIONEER of tomorrow in the various fields of life.

The World Day Against Child Labour was observed in the school on 12 June 2026 with a programme aimed at creating awareness about the rights and welfare of children. Awareness talks were delivered by Ms. M. K. Shakeela Banu, District Child Protection Officer, and Ms. M. D. M. Sheela Priyadarshini, Member of the Child Welfare Committee. Ms. T. R. Dhanisha, Field Officer, District Child Protection Unit, Nagercoil was also present. The students participated in the event and gained insights into the importance of safeguarding children from exploitation and promoting their well-being. The observance concluded with a pledge by students , reaffirming their commitment to oppose child labour and uphold the rights of every child.

The school celebrated World Environment Day jointly with N.V.K.S.D. College of Education and the Tamil Nadu Science Forum. Dr. A. Anbu, IFS, District Forest Officer, Kanniyakumari District, inaugurated the “Class Crop” initiative, under which each class adopts and nurtures a plant. An awareness talk on environmental conservation was delivered, and students and staff took a pledge to protect and preserve the environment.
