Debate report - Supreme Court's Sabarimala Verdict.
The debate was held in the seminar hall of our college on 26th October 2018 . The debate was centered on the topic 'Supreme Court's Sabarimala Verdict'.
The event was conducted in the presence of the staff advisor to the LnD club Sajith sir and students from our college who spectated and cheered the participators.
The debate was moderated by Akash Surendran (U5) and Dakshina Rani Ro (P7) who at their discretion restricted the topic discussed to solely the different aspects of the court judgment.
The debate started with exploring the legality of restricting women's entry to sabarimala. Participants delved into the judicial intricacies of the judgement and examined its validity with respect to the constitutional principles of equality and the right to profess, practice , and propagate one's religion. The debaters also discussed the reasons why this restriction to entry was imposed and examined the orgins of the practice. One of the central points focused on during the debate was why society continued to consider menstruation as 'impure' and whether restricting entry to the temple was tantamount to gender discrimination. There were also points raised on the dangers of secular institutions like the Supreme Court interfering in religious traditions. Seeing the climate of fear and aggression which permeated the sacred temple in the wake of this verdict, many expressed their fears of this judgment sn*******ng into an issue of religious strife and eventually culminating in violence.
The participants also put to scrutiny the chronology of the supreme court verdict and judgments relating to sabarimala. The open debate ended without a consensus formed due to paucity of time but it was successful in fostering a civil dialogue between students and making them well informed about the topic discussed.
Our intention while organising this debate was to provide a platform where participants could voice their opinions and become well informed about the topic discussed. Seeing the good response to this debate we feel encouraged about conducting similar events in the future.
We would like to express our gratitude to the college union and to everyone who attended The Open Debate. We look forward to your continued support.

❤❤IMMORTAL LOVE❤❤
Walking down the aisle,
They saw her in white,
Tears rolled down from her birth-givers,
They had almost lost hope-
Of seeing her in a white gown,
None could deny her of her beauty,
She was the most adorable creature,
But faith had other plans for her,
As she stands besides the bride,
Rebrushing up her past,
She would have been his wife,
If he hadn't chased his second love,
The love for his bike;
His icy body was a nightmare come true,
Even after years down the lane,
She could feel him around her,
Thanking her for completing his duties,
He was happy to see his sister in white,
The magical wind of true love blows over the church,
As everyone believes that he still lives,
In her heart.

A child's dream
Within each adult there dwells a child, trapped muzzled because of notions, rules, and norms set by the society which distinguishes an adult from a child. Any expression from this ‘trapped child’ is described as frivolous behavior or as childishness or even immature behavior. This outburst from the inner child is often considered an embarrassment, judged as insanity.
Do we really ‘grow up’, or do we just act like we did grow up? Adolescence is challenging exactly because of this rhetorical question.
This question is an enigma, an unsolved jigsaw (because of the missing pieces, I guess). The only thing we know, at this stage, is that our appearance is changing, which any child would have obviously fore casted. But the emotional mood swing is like the strong wind in the raging storm. Mood swings which can make us think differently about our life goals. I have very little idea of how people overcome this state of mind. It's a secret-carefully hidden somewhere in the depths of an ‘adult’s’ mind. Or maybe because relating the experience would be a bitter one that it still remains a vague story.Bitter as they would have forced themselves to ignore the child’s call. And would have moved on, following a path quite contradicting to the child’s dream. This regret brings in bitterness to the untold stories.
During each stage of our life, we progress on changing our looks and attires. From a cute toddler to an innocent child then rapidly progressing onto a confused adolescent and then an adult. The transition is too fast, we rapidly change the roles that we play-often this journey affects us with the oblivion’s curse. A curse which forcibly erases the child’s desires. Are we forgetting or is it because all of a sudden the childish dreams seem to be impractical? Why do our life goals change? In this state of confusion, forgetting our inner child often feels like the right cure. Thus to overcome the qualm and the cumbersome adolescence battle and more importantly to win the title of an adult, we ignore our true desires.
The need to mask our real self for the sake of titles is pathetic. But yes the norms of the society is right in the case of shedding ‘childlike’ behavior. But the norms which cut off wings of dreams and aspirations of the child is devastating. It is often these childlike ideologies that culminate into the worlds greatest innovations.
It is time to break such notions and to unleash the power of the inner child. We started building our dreams and aspirations as a child, and so the child still lives within us. The child which craved to fulfill its dreams, which waited for us to grow up. Let us not discourage even the wildest of ideas. It is time for us to do justice to this trapped force within us!

Oneself
The key to understand the world is to know oneself, everything else is reflecting the same light just like you and me. The only variable is the properties that we change in reflection, which is same in every person but at different proportions.

Darkness and Hope
After spending nearly an all nighter with my camera , I realised that even in the darkest hours, even when we can't see with our bare eyes. Light remains for the ones who are willing to look a little longer.

Death
Age is the number that shows how close we are to death or how less it is to the inevitable death. Life is just a journey to it, Death is the destination that everyone shares, there’s no stopping it. Life is just a weird game where both winners and losers share the same result. Everything dies in the end, everything, living and life-less. It's like everything is made from the same material. Like if there's only one element and that's being split into different parts to form every element in the periodic table, if that's true then it justifies the death that everything shares. Death is the ingredient of every reaction, it is the element of life. what is death? Living being is dead when the living part of it is gone, in non-living death refers to the non-working/non-functional condition. Something created for a purpose and it's no longer capable to do that so it's dead. But actually, everything shares the purpose to die. Every beginning has an end. Death is the evolution of that product or person. Death is the ultimate evolution. Death is the very creation itself. What happens when something dies? Its broken down and decayed to join with the rest of the world. When a living thing dies, it decays and joins with the soil which feeds other life forms. So, without death there's no way a living system could survive. Life and Death are co-dependent, one doesn’t exist without the other. Death is the closest to life. It is the inevitable necessity that everyone forgets. Death is often treated as bad omen, it's often treated with sadness and fear, but not everyone understands that it's the way, it's the only way life could survive. So, if someone dies never be sad, be happy for they'll be the life force that drives the next generation of life. Death is not the enemy. It’s the ally that we never knew we had. Death is the cleaning process that acts as both a punishment and a reward. Death is punishment to the ones who have to live with the loss and reward for the ones who faced it. Death is 100% successful. It does its work all the time, but life doesn’t always. Not all life turns out the way it's meant to be. That's the beauty of death. Never fear death. Death is not the evil here. Death is our ally but everyone hates it. It's true that when your loved ones die you have to live without them, but you have to accept they are gone for the betterment of our world and your love towards them should never be turned into hating death. The uncertainty of life, always expect death. The only thing that's certain in life is death. Life is the tiny bit of light that remains in the dark universe that we exist. Death is very underrated.
