Six months ago, everything changed.

After 30 years of uncertainty and misdiagnosis, I finally learned I have Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD). It’s been a mix of relief, fear, frustration, and slow acceptance — but also the start of a new way of living and understanding myself.

I’ve decided to start writing openly about this journey — the good days, the difficult ones, and the moments in between — in a new daily blog on Substack.

This isn’t about inspiration; it’s about honesty. About what it really means to adapt, rebuild, and keep going when life changes completely.

Houseboat trip on the backwaters of Kerala

Hi all,

I am in need of a bit of help. Over the next month or so, I will be moving our 31 foot sailing yacht Albatros from Zelande in The Netherlands to her new home in Cherbourg, France. I am looking for a crew of competent sailors to help! Weather permitting, I am planning on sailing non stop, a journey that should take just 3 days and I will provide food and drink on board. I am looking for experienced sailors who are able to sail overnight and that may have some experience of sailing within the English Channel.

If you know anyone that can help, please reach out and share this post. I am desperate to get Albatros closer to home!
