W Porter became the head mistress, and made many improvements, such that the school came to be known as Mrs. In 1852, the school moved to its campus on Jermiah Road. In 1915, the school was renamed as the Bentinck School, in honour of Lord Willia

In 1898, the school was granted recognition as a high school, and in 1899, the first student was admitted to college. In 1978, the school became a higher secondary school (offering Year 11 and Year 12). The Bentinck School once offered Education in English, Tamil and Telugu, the main languages of the Madras Presidency. However, it now offers only English Medium Education. Once it was a challenge to get girls to continue their education, due to the high level of dropouts. The situation has now changed, with the school being favoured for its quality of education.

🌟 LOVE THIS ANALOGY! 🌟

You’re holding a cup of coffee when someone bumps into you… and it spills everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?
Most people would say, “Because someone bumped into me!”
But that’s not really why.

You spilled coffee because coffee was in your cup.
If there had been tea inside, you would’ve spilled tea.

☕ Whatever’s inside the cup is what spills out.

Life works the same way.
When life shakes you — and trust me, it will —
whatever’s inside you will come pouring out.

It’s easy to stay calm when everything’s smooth…
but when things get tough, what truly lives inside you comes out.

So ask yourself today —
💭 What’s in my cup?

When life gets messy, what spills out?
✨ Joy, gratitude, peace, and humility?
😤 Or anger, bitterness, frustration, and blame?

Remember this:
Life provides the cup… but YOU choose what to fill it with.

So today, let’s fill our cups with:
💖 Gratitude
🌈 Forgiveness
🔥 Resilience
🌿 Positivity
💬 Words that uplift
🤍 Kindness
✨ And a whole lot of love.

Because when life shakes you — and it surely will —
you’ll want something beautiful to overflow. 💫

URGENT CALL TO ACTION – Bentinck School Strike on 24th May 2025, Saturday at 10:30 AM
Friends and families of all Bentinck Higher Secondary School for Girls please come together for justice.

Dear Bentinck family,
We’ve just received shocking news — our beloved Bentinck teachers are suddenly being deployed - sent out of the school , and there are plans to close our school next year to convert it into a Matric school. As proud alumni and students of an aided institution that shaped who we are we cannot remain silent.
This is more than just a school - it’s our identity, our foundation.
We are organizing a peaceful strike on 24th May 2025, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10.30 A.M to show our strong opposition and support for our teachers and our school’s legacy. Your presence matters more than ever.

Meeting Point: Front gate of Our School
Day : 24th May 2025, Saturday
Time: 10:00 AM

Kindly spread the word among all former Bentinck students you know. Let’s stand together before it’s too late.

Kind regards,
Malar Harris

God bless all our beloved teachers
