IIM Jammu - Srinagar Campus

The 15-day STEM program concluded on a high note with insightful expert lectures by Mr. Farooq Amin, CEO of Kanwal Foods, and Mr. Owais Masoodi, CEO of Crystal Industries. The training program provided a valuable learning journey for the students, leaving them enriched with knowledge and inspiration.

Today, STEM students had the opportunity to visit Rahim Motors for an insightful industrial tour. They explored the entire facility and learned about the newly introduced machinery, gaining valuable knowledge about how the industry operates. It was an enriching learning experience for everyone involved.

Today’s session featured two experts, Mr. Adnan Shah, founder of Fashion Fiesta with over 20 outlets in Kashmir, who shared insights on optimizing startup management strategies and Mr. Khalid Wani , director of KWCG Group, who provided an in-depth discussion on reframing go-to-market strategies.

We had some insightful sessions at IIM Jammu Srinagar Campus. Mr. Rayees, founder of Tiffin Aaw, shared valuable insights on Onboarding, Training, and Retaining Team Members, as well as Preparing for Exit: Steps to Ensure a Successful Business Exit. Additionally, Dr. Muqbil Burhan sir delivered an engaging session on Implementing Agile Practices Across Business Functions, offering practical strategies for enhancing efficiency and adaptability. The discussions were highly enriching and thought-provoking!

Yesterday featured two inspiring sessions that resonated deeply with attendees. The founder of GR8 Sports had a heartfelt discussion with STEM students, sharing his entrepreneurial journey, the challenges he faced, and how perseverance played a critical role in his success. This session highlighted valuable lessons on innovation, resilience, and leadership.

Additionally, Dr. Javid Mir, the visionary entrepreneur behind KHT Pickles, shared his unique journey of building a business rooted in tradition and quality. He discussed the importance of adapting to market demands while staying true to one’s values, offering insights into the world of sustainable and culturally significant entrepreneurship.

Both sessions provided participants with actionable takeaways and inspiration to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations with courage and authenticity.

Today’s event began with a session by Dr. Baljeet Singh Sani focusing on strategies to rapidly expand a business’s customer base and revenue, including the use of guerrilla marketing tactics by startups and their impact on driving customer acquisition. This was followed by an insightful session by Mr. Raheel Khursheed who shed light on global and India-specific business trends. Overall, it was a highly productive and engaging session.

Today’s session began with an engaging discussion on managing businesses in economically weaker states, led by Mr. Ufair Ajaz, Director of Kashmir Motors Group. This was followed by an insightful session on recovering from business failures by Mr. Rakesh Magotra, Deputy General Manager of JK Bank. The day concluded with an informative session by Ms. Kanika, who explored the pros and cons of entering a saturated market.

Today’s session focused on Retention Strategies led by Ms. Kanika, Marketing Manager at Amazon Development Centre, covering techniques to retain customers and build loyalty. Dr. Yasir discussed Outsourcing Tasks—when and how entrepreneurs should approach it. Additionally, we had an insightful segment with Mr. Danish, CFO of who spoke about Common Communication Pitfalls for Startups. The session was highly engaging and insightful

Today’s session offered an in-depth look at essential topics for modern business growth, including the art of product innovation, methods for enhancing product value, and sustainable business strategies. Dr. Muqbil Burhan led a session focused on the significance and processes behind innovating products to meet evolving market demands. Dr Yasir delivered an insightful discussion on sustainable business practices, sharing strategies for integrating sustainability into core business models. Additionally, Dr. Sayeed Rukhsar Masterchef captivated the audience by recounting her personal journey and the lessons she learned, providing valuable perspectives on resilience and success in her field.

Phase 3 of the STEM program has commenced at the IIM Jammu - Srinagar Campus focusing on in-depth sessions led by renowned local entrepreneurs who have established themselves in their fields. Today’s session featured the founder of a successful dairy farm and a psychologist, who discussed the critical role of mental health and well-being in the startup ecosystem. The session emphasized how nurturing mental resilience is essential for entrepreneurs to thrive, helping them manage stress, enhance focus, and sustain productivity in the demanding startup environment.

A review meeting for the STEM program was held at the Srinagar campus of IIM Jammu on 5th September at the ThinkIn. The meeting was attended by Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Chairperson of the Srinagar Campus; Mr. Vivek Sharma, CIO; Mr. Naren Karunakaran, consultant , Program
management Team STEM and Ms. Anamika, AGM at SIDBI, along with participants of the STEM program. During the meeting, the STEM candidates shared detailed insights about their business strategies, experiences, and expectations from the program.

Today, the team from IIM Jammu - Srinagar Campus visited the villages of Kaniyari and Ningli, where they engaged in discussions with the local fishing community. The fishermen shared detailed insights into the challenges they face and proposed potential steps for generating sustainable livelihoods. The interaction also included fishermen from surrounding areas, such as Tarzoo, Watlab, and Kaniyari, who contributed to the conversation with their perspectives and experiences.
